For any pitot tube questions on the MCAT, is it ok to assume that the height of the 2 opening point is always negligible and we can cross out the PE terms in bernoullis equation? Or will there be some cases in the scope of the MCAT where the height diff. is not negligible, thanks!

From my experience with the MCAT if theyre gonna give a question where the height difference isn't negliable there going to make it clear that the two openings are far from each other. But generally I wouldn't worry about that.

slightly confused why pressure is negligible in the second example

both experience the same atmospheric pressure

I am slightly confused with your pitot tube example as the video by khan academy shows the opposite, that the opening facing the flow speed has a v=0 but the opening perpendicular to the flow speed captures dynamic pressure.

youre thinking too hard, its the same thing in both videos
