Missy is the strongest person in this family. She's not particularly close to anyone because they're all busy taking care of Sheldon, but she's close to each of them in her own special way. She's more the heart of the family in the way she brings them together and she's a good buffer between Sheldon and Georgie, too.

You’d think if Missy was born the weaker twin, Mary would’ve been protective of HER growing up rather than Sheldon but bcuz her son turned out to be gifted (yet unable to function in normal social settings) she turned her attention to him & as a result he felt like the world owed him everything. Whereas Missy turned out to be neurotypical so she faded to the background despite being the only girl & craving her mum’s attention in order to feel as special as her twin. There ARE moments Mary did things for Missy but compared to Sheldon, they’re few & far between. We constantly hear Mary calling Sheldon her ‘baby’ but Missy has no such name of affection. Whether or not Mary will ever admit it, she treats Sheldon as her favourite & sadly, she never really sees the damage this does to her other children - most of all Missy 😞 Is it any wonder Missy ran away after ALL that?

Well, Sheldon had been always over sensitive towards everything, he scares of several stuffs and follows some strict rules made by himself that his own family find that ridiculous and hard to follow his wants. He's also extremely naive and cannot tell how everybody's feeling, Meemaw could easily trick him when they played cards together. A person like that, is very unlikely to survive in this world, he's either being tricked by some bad ppl or they'd just punch him in the face since he's kinda annoying to deal with. Hence, he's the weakest child among those three, Missy and Georgie were just great with communicating and social experience, they would know really well how to get through hard stuffs in life. So that might be the reason why Mary is more protective of Sheldon more than the other two, not really about his health or like Meemaw was lying in this scene. And in Mary's words, Sheldon being smart is a gift of God, which could be another reason as well.
@Unversed333 Жыл бұрын
@@joshuadesautels There are some issues with the continity if you factor the main show. In the episode when she meets Sheldon's mom for the first time, Mary mentions that she was driving to church when she was pregnant with Sheldon, whereas here Memaw said that Mary got her act cleaned up after Sheldon and Missy were born. Mary is the most misunderstood character by the audience. i don't think she's playing favourites, she's more worried about the potential outcast who won't be able to navigate society. Plus there's less risk involved in academic ventures than social ones, so guess which one has more 'yes'. In the process of fussing over Sheldon and holding the house down, she forgot about Georgie and Missy. George filled in that role, so she became assumed the bad guy. That's how almost all moms like Mary IRL become the bad guy. Holding down a job, worrying about your 3 kids, and cleaning the house alone isn't easy!

@Christopher Bingham and that excuses favoritism? That is what you're saying. It's your job as a parent to treat and love your kids equally. If she obviously favors Sheldon, Missy and Georgie will pick up on that and thus treat her like she treats them. It doesn't matter if you have a better-behaved kid, but if you have a favorite, you should definitely not show it to them and make it obvious, that's only making things worse. How can you excuse her behavior? Are you really that blind that you can't see the blatantly obvious that everyone else can see?
@scatterdash32432 жыл бұрын
@@alexa2464 Well, this isn't a normal situation for Mary now, is it? Contrary to what Chris said, I don't think Mary considers Sheldon to be favorite just because Mary thinks Sheldon loves her the most. In my opinion, since Sheldon is a 'special' child, he needs a lot of attention unlike the other kids. Naturally, Mary will have the tendency to give him the most attention, and on the way it is obvious the other kids will feel they're being left out. As the days goes by, we see Sheldon needing more of Mary than the other kids, because Sheldon requires his mom to be there for each and everything (Eg : Sheldon cannot find his socks and calls the mom), so automatically, the attention on Sheldon from Mary increases more than required, and this is where we think Mary is playing favoritism. Yes, Sheldon needs his mom more because, his mom is behind him mostly, it is like a cycle and this is Mary's kryptonite. Yes, I know, Mary needs to treat all their children equally, and I DO think she LOVES all their children equally. Now, about the attention part, Mary isn't perfect, mothers aren't perfect, they are humans too, they do make mistakes, we expect Mary to be a perfect motherly figure. This is where I think George Sr to step in, if Mary is being busy with Sheldon, George should be with Missy and George Jr more. This is how it should be. Remember when Sheldon and Missy were taking the test? Missy mentioned that she was being left out, and Mary was quite sad and surprised hearing that. Now, that shows that she isn't being intentional with it, she just acts according to the situation, and she tries, there were many instances of Mary and Missy bonding. Mary is trying, she isn't perfect, she has flaws, and that is the case with parenting. It is hard.
@alexa24642 жыл бұрын
@@scatterdash3243 It's more than that too. She always takes Sheldon's side, in most things without even knowing the whole story, like that time Missy tore Sheldon's picture, and just as soon as she got home, she demanded Missy to apologize without even hearing both sides. If you've been on Missys side of that, then you know how frustrating that can be. I also remember one episode in which they both got a present and Sheldon got a whole new computer while Missy only got a small doll. She was so disappointed. Making your child feel like you have a favorite, even if you don't, is wrong, regardless of the reasons. That will create resentment between siblings and make the favorite child feel superior. Maybe she should have sat them down and explain why Sheldon might need more help, but reassure them that she loved them equally. I get it can be hard, but having Sheldon as a brother isn't any easier.

If someone gets what they pray for and than do the work themselves to change they give the credit to a God and if they don't get what they pray for they blame a God and not have the motivation to change . Far better to see the world for what it is and teach children everything you wish you would have known at their age and how to use logic and reasoning. . Most kids are taught there's an Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy, Santa Claus, Unicorns, and God all before they can use reason. I was taught thall shall not lie and to trust my Mom she would always tell the truth. I remember wondering why my Mother lied so many times and if she lied about that, what else was she lying about.

Do you really expect me to believe that God bargains? God is all-knowing, which means he was aware that the birthing complications would happen before they even happened. God is all powerful, which means that he should have been able to prevent the birthing complication from happening in the first place. That is what God did for Sheldon. Do you expect me to believe that God plays favorites? God would make sure that one child was born without any complications while doing no such favor for the other? What if Mary did not make that deal with God? Would Missy have died, because of something that wasn't even her fault.

@@julianbigelow2794 Your view of God is misguided. Just because He is all powerful does not mean He has to prevent bad things from happening to people here on earth. Your expectation that He should have is incorrect. He is sovereign, we are not. He will act as HE chooses, not as we think He should. God does not control the things that happen. And no, God does not play favorites. He loves everyone equally. Doesn't always agree with our stupid choices, but He always loves the person.

@@Hal-k8p God does not play favorites? Cameron Boyce died at the age 20 from a seizure. Most people do not die at the age of 20 from seizures. How is that not playing favorites? Another thing. If God is omni-benevolent, then he should want to prevent all unnecessary suffering. If God is omnipotent, then he should be able to prevent all unnecessary suffering. If an omnipotent and omni-benevolent God exists, then evil should not.
@Hal-k8p9 ай бұрын
@@nicolevose3066 You obviously have NO clue what God is really like. God does not control what happens on earth. That girl died because that is what happens on earth. Earth is an extremely broken place because of the sin of man. God is not playing favorites. That is not in His character to do so. That is strictly a human way to think. He shows no partiality. God could prevent all evil but then humans would be automatons with no ability to think for themselves. God has given humans free will choice to live their lives. He will not interfere with what we choose. Since humans choose evil, that's what we get. God is not a vending machine. We don't just insert a prayer and get what we think we want. We get suffering because that is the result of Adam and Eve's choice to sin. Broke the world, right there. It is also why we need Jesus. God is sovereign, we are not. God does as HE pleases, not as WE think He ought to do. Maybe one day you'll grow up and be able to understand it better. WE have ruined the world, not God.

Good old George's beers are handy in that fridge, what about asking to do some peeling or chopping or cleaning or ironing or something to spend time together to help his wife nope seems impossible. I mean Little Georgie does the lawns, good old George has boys nights, and cards nights, and Mary's only outlet from keeping the house running smoothly is church and she gets hell about that. Come on George senior Sir - pull you're weight stay home and sober and be helpful. Set a grand successful example.XOX

I wouldn't let my kids wear makeup till 16 like I was. I got make up on my 15th birthday and was able to wear it with my friends and younger sister as long as I didn't put any on the baby my half sister 10 .5 years young then me and chap stick only. She thought it was lipstick 💄 because it was cheery and root beer and cotton candy lipsticks. If we had our nails and toe nails painted she wanted it too.

eh makeup nowadays is just an art form. back then it was more about looking pretty and growing up. now kids are drawing bubbles and shooting stars across their faces so i dont see the big deal in letting kids play. we let them play with paint and express themselves with clothing/accesories. its the same thing

Sometimes one twin can have complications. There was a woman pregnant with twins but one died at birth. A woman with twins didn't know that and said she was lucky she only had one baby to look after. The woman didn't tell her that one of her twins had died because she didn't want the mother to feel bad. But she later started having the hospital have purple butterflies for women with multiple births when not all the babies lived. That way if someone saw a mother with a purple butterfly they knew she had lost a baby.
