I work in a primary school. One of the Dads drops his year one daughter off on his electric long board. She stands between his legs with her arms wrapped around his legs. Both of them have the biggest smiles when they are riding. At school all of the staff refer to him as the coolest parent at school. The natural progression from a regular board to a e skateboard, for me, was encouraged by seeing the joy in both their eyes when riding.

Started on a penny board, and just couldn’t enjoy longer rides especially on sidewalks. Looked into longboards and entered the world of eskates. The idea of moving easily without much effort was the selling point for me.

I was addicted to watching the downhill "raw run" videos. Especially the couple that were shot in/around Columbia. The thought of going that fast on a board was definitely drawing me in, but terrified me at same time. I had seen several ads for Backfire Boards and looked into it. Decided 35mph on an electric would be a bit safer than 70mph with no brakes. I've been through 5 boards since then. ESK8 has become my favorite thing in life.

i got into electric skateboarding because i always liked technology like drones and RC-cars (the once that go 60mph) and one off (ad that time) my favorite youtubers bought an e-board and when watching the video i already got stoked allot from just seeing him have so much fun on that e-board. So than i started saving up and watching a ton off video's thats when i found casey neistat and his esk8 boards he reviewed and showed in his vlogs. This was all in 2018 well before you started your channel i found your channel when searching for reviews off my second eboard the exway wave. After months off saving up i bought my first e-board and that's probably my best decision i made in my life.

I have skated since early 80's. Always wanted a motorized board. Tried to make one in high-school metal/auto shop. My teacher was helping me. Tried to buy a used weed-wacker motor from our gardner, my Mom found out and canceled the whole project! Super excited when eboards arrived in 2013/2014?! My dream finally came true!!

At first I didn't know electric skateboards were a thing until I found out about them on your channel and other yt channels. Got me interested in it because I never longboarded in my entire life while living in Canada and when I got my cheap hub board from Indiegogo (I know I know..) I was excited. Got on it, had no gears and well.. got wrecked so many times and got confident over time so bought a helmet and got into ESK8 around 2019 or so. Esk8 changed my life and it gets rid of stress when I am out there riding!

Always wanted to get an esk8 but never pulled the trigger on it. Eventually the idea faded and I never really thought about it again. One day I was taking my young son out for a ride on his bicycle. I realized that he'd progressed to the point that I couldn't jog behind him anymore. I was going to need to get myself a bicycle to keep up with him. I wasn't that keen since the idea of casually riding a bicycle seemed really boring, but what are you going to do, right? A little while later on that same ride, this guy ripped past us on an esk8. I was amazed. Scrapped the bicycle idea, and jumped onto KZbin to start "researching" esk8s. Found your channel and ordered my first board within 2 days. Thanks for all the reviews. You made finding that entry level board a breeze! So glad I didn't get a bicycle.

I had no idea of electric boards last year. I have a couple of longboards which I use for downhill and watched a lot of downhill freeride videos. One day the video menu put up an "electric group ride" video which I thought was going to be all bikes. Turns out the guy leading the ride was on a big E board. I was shocked.that such a thing existed.....then the light turns green and this guy just takes off. Right then and there I knew I would get one. (I was like WTF?) Found your channel and binge watched pretty much all your videos and learned about the different types of decks, motors, speed controls, and batteries. Took awhile to decide. I started skateboarding in 84' as a kid, got into it again 5 years ago. Also rode and raced dirtbikes most of my life. Also been riding sportbikes most of my life. I also built a high horsepower crazy ass vintage Camaro. Point of this is that I got my 1st E-board April 13 or 14th and it is the most fun I've had in years. (I can't get off the thing, I just turned 800km a few hours ago.) The E board is like a combination of my Car, RCs and motorcycles all in one and makes me feel like I'm 15 years old instead of 52. My family & friends think I'm nuts, but I think I got my niece hooked last weekend. I got the EoVan Carbon Silo with belt drive and so far no issues with it. Put harder Riptide bushings in it as you suggested and regularly run it at top speed. Thanks for making the research a little easier. Best money I ever spent.

The thing that got me into electric skateboarding was an old blue pinstriped arrowhead deck Li-Lo board which was absolutely rubbish at 8mph, no brakes, cabled remote with pressure pad on switch. It used THREE 6v lead-acid alarm battery packs which cost me £20 EACH! My first decent electric skateboard was a blue Yuneec Ego-2 model, fantastic deck shape, single belt-driven motor, 12mph. As you can imagine, any model after these two impressed me!

I actually started e-scooter-ing before Covid and before the e-scooter craze took off as a last mile commute but found them a bit unwieldy on the tubes in London. Then suddenly E-Scooters really took off in the UK and it became so common that i decided to go into ESK8; plus so much more portable especially on trains and tubes. Luckily i used to skate back in the day (like 30yrs ago now) so picking it back up wasn't too bad. Been watching your channel as well as Dkwan and Ronnie for over a year now.....great job guys!! 👏👏

While headed down to my favourite surf spot at 13th beach, a few guys were carving on the road ahead of my car and I thought nothing of it till they started going uphill!!! Hi Scotty, I got into electric skateboarding when I needed a car to get back and forth to work but didn’t want to pay for all the expenses that come along with it. I used to take public transportation but even that wasn’t dependable because the buses would arrive late or not at all. I needed something portable. The electric bike and scooter seemed to big to carry around and sort of dorky looking. I’m glad I chose an electric skateboard, it checked all the boxes for me.

I'm not really looking to win but I do want this out there: I got into eskates because I got a new job in which I cannot drive to anymore. The train station is a significant distance away from home and taking the bus to there takes as much time as walking--around 20 minutes or more. Moreover, the bus schedule is unreliable--I was never certain if I was early or late when I get to the bus stop. Walking is fine if you're not pressed for time but that's more than 40 minutes I will lose every work day, 40 minutes that I'd rather use for more enjoyable things in life. An eskate halves that travel time to the train station and I can also predictably tell which train I can catch when I get to the station.

@@scottdaviesyoutube yep. The same in Europe. And I would have to ship it to Germany and then get it to Slovenia, the country I am from. In the end I bought a Meepo V1, the original with red wheels and convex deck. That thing was incredibly sketchy to ride, it felt akin to riding a broom stick(handle) due to the convex shape. It also had a weak battery with tons of voltage sag. Basically every time I hit a crack in the street, it would pause for a split second then kick in with full throttle. Regardless, I fell in love with esk8boarding. Later I upgraded the deck to V1.5 and ESC to their V2 ESC and later evern to V3, which I coupled with the Sanyo ER battery. The board was finally rideable then. Nowadays I use a Backfire Zealot S with cloudwheels. I miss the range of the Meepo ER battery, but I still get around 18 km out of it even if I ride aggressively. Next purchase will be a mini board, either Tynee 3 or something with built in lights. I am a bit bummed I skipped on the Exway Wave Nasa. That board seems to be exactly what I am looking for.
