This is by far the one of the best work of Pt Ravi Shankar on a film soundtrack. And Vani Jayaram's singing top-notch. While Lata was in her peak around this time, I appreciate all the songs sung by someone other than her. And what brilliant rendition she has done! Very well deserved best playback (female) singer for that year. Lastly, Gulzar! What more one can say! Its best tribute to a hindu devotee of Krishna made by a muslim! Music has no religion. And this is the perfect manifestation.

Sad these wonderful Meera Bhajans by Vani Jairam did not become as famous as any other Anup Jalota's bhajans during that time in spite of the Music by maestro Pandit Ravi Shanker. Also, Lata's Meera Bhajans were already famous in the market and hence these were completely sidelined. But today also when you listen to them after so many years they still retain their sweetness and melody. Sad even the Music company did not do justice to it.
