After seeing controversy related to raising pigs in mass production, I'm glad to find the "farming responsibly report" to understand how using crating pens for pregnant and nursing pigs came about. I am sure what I've seen on gestation crates and farrowing pens where sows are in obvious distress happens mainly in mass production. I believe these types need to be addressed. I hope research/better practices come about. Are there laws to how long a sow can be crated? Even this video bothered me.

this is really good i allways liked the hog farm cause thats what i do construction on hog farms all types of hog construction if anything need just live a coment

Obviously in some cases pigs are being kept in these confined spaces for much more of their life than is "normal" for a pig - which really isn't normal anyway, but when you choose to manufacture pork for a living you really aren't raising them in a way that is natural, no matter how humane you try to be to them. Please keep us updated on the research!
