I took my licence with VU2 call sign in mid eighties & quit the hobbie a long time back! Didn't even bother to renew my licence as now a days with the advent of internet, even cell phone coverage via satellite etc, amateur radio is dead! It's already dead in United States & Europe! Another thing is it's an expensive hobby & it's ridiculous waste of time & resources to going in for the bother of taking it as a hobby or licence for the same.
