Please also look into IPS officers accused of dowry harrassments, sexual exploitation of women, harrassing subordinates. All are roaming freely, judiciary has become a laughing stock in this country. Laws don't apply to govt officials in India.

My Dad is a retired IAS officer from 1979 batch. I have encoundered many IAS and State Civil Service officers throughout my life. All of them were smart, eloquent and very down to earth. You may say, "hey they were being nice in front of my father", but then, i never heard any complaints or news of misbehaviour regarding them. When my Dad was a Div.Commisioner his DM was awesome. Once his pre-teen son asked the bodygaurd to open the car door for him, and the DM thrashed his SON on the spot and asked him to apologize to the bodygaurd. These were the IAS officers i grew up with. Heck, i have NEVER experienced sitting in my Dad's VIP car. Its sad that now there are so many IAS officers here who wouldnt survive a single day with this kind of misbehaviour back in the 80s and 90s. What happened during the past 2 decades???

I guess with more media coverage, the IAS posts just got more aspired by all, a lot more for power and money, rather then serving the nation. Officers like your father exists till date, and mostly are greater in number, I would very much like to believe. Salute to everyone of them for being loyal to the constitution and their post.

I still believe 80% of the IAS officers are like that across all cadres. In fact, IAS must be the least corrupt amongst all the services. In my home state, it's the lower bureaucracy (State Civil Services PCS, PCS allied) which are high headed, drunk on power, and are majorly corrupt. Also, their kids roam around like they own the city and its people. I

When the selection process starting from preliminary exam... Non disclosure of answer keys even after the declaration of results, outright dropping of some questions, might is right attitude, lack of accountability, failure to recruit the right candidates, ethics paper becomes unethical after the selection, no mid term career review, treating civil service as a career and most importantly over glorification of IAS.... What do you expect?

This is not even the tip of the iceberg. There are millions more, some retired, some on the verge of retirement, some on active duty and rest being prepared to loot the nation. We are so used to having them around that we don't even bother who or what is right or wrong. Life simply goes on cos the spine doesn't exist in our bodies anymore. Always wondered what people do with such huge amounts of money. I don't have crores but i still live a happy and peaceful life. India was destroyed more by bureaucrats than by politicians.

Verifying Moral character is beyond the scope of any examination. Moreover, this is a complex issue involving human psychology and behaviour. Thanks to state sponsored reservations to fulfill socio-economic obligations, the scope of scrutiny is getting further diluted. A section of undeserving candidates are taking the opportunity to misuse the power entrusted upon them.

about 95% of ias officers are corrupted,they do not perform any work until and unless it is a compulsion.Our villagers including me submitted dozens of applications over and again but issues remain unsolved,he/she whosoever come into the position never see our grievances.
