My opossum has MBD!! I got him like that, he was on a very poor diet!! Although he has gotten a lot better, he is permanently damaged for life, and unreleasable. Now I have a special permit and he is going to be an ambassador animal!!

My dad's friend a long while ago used to have a pet skunk and even a raccoon. He said the skunk was pretty much a cat but the raccoon was a big house destroyer.

I know someone who has a pet deer on his farm... The deer was found on the side of the road sitting near it's dead mother who was hit by a car and he had to be cared for... He was just a baby and needed to be bottled fed... They keep him in a barn at night or when he's unattended to make sure nothing can hurt him or even get near him...

He’s adorable! I’m an experienced possum rehabber. They are adorable and make really good roommates when you get one that can’t be released. I’ve had two, one at a time, that had to live with me. You can litter train them or (bathtub) drain train them. They are not destructive and can just have the run of the house. I had a little girl who was with me almost 17 months. The only problem I had was she would climb on the bed and if I didn’t wake up immediately she would go to the top of the pillow and grab my hair in both hands and then smell my scalp. I’d get her a treat and she would go back to being nocturnal with the cat. The first was male who was legally blind and physically challenged since he was hit by the car that killed his biomommy. He also loved the cat and rarely woke me at night. They both lives less than two years but both just had the run of the house and I never had an issue with either of them once they knew where to go potty and where the fridge was. 🥰🥰🥰🥰.

Steff my coon hound brought me a baby opossum (about 7inches long and I assuming my dog treed the mama and the baby fell off her back) and I'm confused on if it needs to be tube fed or syringe fed. Some ppl say tube, some people say syringe. It's eyes are open, mouth is open, has fur, and is crawling. Do you happen to know how I should feed it? Btw it's name is Poppy (idk if it's a boy or girl)

I may reptile person and as a reptile person one way that I prevent my bearded dragons from getting metabolic bone disease I don't feed them kale because there are some properties in kale that bind calcium together so it just goes through them so they don't get any of the calcium but I don't know anything about opossums so who knows but I thought that might be a helpful fact I don't know do your own research as always

People please remember that opposums are not pets. They are wild animals. They can be tamed but they are not domesticated so they will always be wild and unpredictable. This is just a baby right now, but they do not stay that way, they get big and they have sharp ass teeth. Please use common sense and do not keep these as a pet.

@@slotheatworld Difference is they're domestic. There's a difference between domestic and tamed. I own 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 rats, and 2 birds. All domesticated, not tamed. And then there's the case of feral cats, who are domesticated but wild. You cannot force a domesticated animal to love humans when they want to be wild. That's why I support TNR and feral cat colonies. They're happier outside away from humans, same as opposums.

Its not like you can take them anywhere or train them to do tricks. There's virtually no stimulation and thats unfair to an animal that shouldn't be a pet in the first place. Your cat is adorable. We found two dropped baby opossums in our yard last year two days apart. They had both been attacked by a raccoon. The first one we found just had part of its ear bitten. It was still playing opossum when we found it. My hubby relocated it to the woods. The second one we found wasn’t as fortunate. It’s bites were to the face. ‘This was when we realized a raccoon was what had attacked them.

He or she is a beautiful little kitty. I at my beach house we had a lot of possums and I cooked white gravy for them every night. They are very clean little critters and make good pets. They have a very low temperature so keep him warm. The low temperature is the reason they don't have rabies. Their temperature is to low to incubate the rabies virus.

My dad (i dont live with him he also lives at my grandparents house) found a baby opossum in the road we did everything we could but he passed away . No animal rescues were open because of covid and we did everything that the internet said be i think he was left by his self to long outside. He was about the size of a syrian hamster maybr a bit smaller but had his eyes open and walked around a bit

Love the new opussom, you should put maybe an aloe vera plant in the iguana cage. I don't have reptiles so it's just a suggestion but I think it should work to keep them from eating it less even tho aloe vera plant is still edible for them its thick so they wont eat it up so fast.

I found a baby cat once at the park around 2 months and the rescue i took him too told me to just leave them alone next time, that they can fend to themselves and find food and water, which really confused me lol but cute cat!
