The more I watch, the more I enjoy these videos. It's late and I saw this and had to watch before shutting down. Love, love, love the new babies!

What a beautiful Suffolk Punch Mare (Lexie) and Foal ( Mayflower. I've owned and rode and drove horses for over 40 years including Registered Quarter Horses P,ercheron Thoroughbred/Morgan Crosses then to Full Blood Percheron Mares. I reside in New Brunswick Canada . Over the last couple of years I've been following the Podcast of "Working Horses with JIm" who farms and works in the Woods in Northern New York U.S.A. almost exclusively with horses. Over the last couple of Years Jim Gordon has purchased 3 Suffolk Punch Colts, appropriately named Baron, Duke and Earl. After following along on Jim's Video's with the 4 year old Baron and the 2- 3 year old Duke and Earl . With their wonderful calm demeanors, willingness to accept training ( From a great horse trainer and horseman like Jim Gordon ) I'm slowly becoming a fan of the Suffolk Punch Horse. Jim and Brenda Gordon also own both Percheron and Belgian Horses on their farm as well.

I live in the States and we just had 2 foals born this year, a filly and a colt. Both registered Suffolks. These our our first foals. We love working the mares on our very small farm. Of all the draft breeds we have had over the years we really like the temperament of the Suffolks. Enjoyed watching your video, we did as you and had someone experienced foal out the mares since we are novices at that part of horse ownership.

Congratulations on your two foals, fantastic news for the breed. It's so lovely to hear you work them, did you break them yourselves?

@@CotswoldFarmPark I am not very good at training young stock to drive so I buy from the Amish farmers who have trained them quite well. When the foals are old enough I will send them back there to be trained. I don’t have a large enough farm with enough work to train the young horses. This specific farm does farming in the warm months, logging in the winter and maple syrup in the late winter/early spring so in one year the horses are exposed to lots different equipment and situations.

What a lovely way to end the day, with this super video. Alison was so relaxed and natural. Mayflower being a surprise filly made me smile. My grandson, now 19, was “definitely a girl”, according to the radiographer who scanned my daughter. Good luck, Lexi and Mayflower.

Thank you Andrea, Alison is a star isn't she! Perhaps you're daughter has the magical touch too!

How exciting to have a new foal, especially a filly. Congratulations! While I agree that she is, understandably, a little timid at the moment, I’m sure a saw a glint in her eye! I think she may well grow into a cheeky personality! Best of luck with Mum and Bub. Give them a rub from me. 🙂🐨🦘🇦🇺

I wish Jim from Working Horses with Jim would contact these people, he recently gelded his Suffolk stallion, but froze semen before the gelding which he is trying to sell to whoever needs it. 😐 And Barron is just a beautiful Suffolk Punch.

What does the word - punch signify?
@CricketsBay Жыл бұрын
Punch is an Old English word which means a short, stout person. The Suffolk Punch breed was considered a short, stout, muscular draft breed.

If endangered why geld them?

Genetics. Like they explained, the SPARKS database determines which horses can be bred, and too many stallions who are related to the mares actually leads more genetic diseases and poorer health outcomes for the offspring down the road.

Shame to use an out dated phrase "breaking" with all its outdated connotations. Beautiful horses though. Have always had a soft spot for Suffolks.
