Scott Cawthon Fan/ Animdude Anyone can hit scouts with the direct hit. Listen to me... As a solider you are supposed to flank with splash damage not attack individual targets I don't think you understand that. It takes longer with the direct hit because not every hit will be %100. Aiming at their feet and directly at the same time will do a lot more than a miss or even a hit because tiny explosions won't do you any good. And any soldier with stock can equip battalions backup as well and buff banner Is even more effective with stock mini crits.

I for one have been playing TF2 since the day it became free to play, and to this day I still wear the gibus for the hell of it. I kinda hate that F2P has just become synonymous with "noob". Sure, new people to the game are bad at it for the simple reason that they're new, but you shouldn't blame the fact that they haven't spent money on the game. People who are new and bad at the game have been around since the game itself came out, except before it became free, those people were just called "new to the game".

To all the people saying: but it's just a hat - No. It really does make a difference. Having a Gibus on makes people assume you're either new or a member that has been playing for longer, but more sporadically (yes, I've seen a Grizzled Veteran wearing the Gibus and playing horribly), which equals less experience with the game. For those of you who say: you could just craft a hat, that's true, and it will probably mean you've had more experience than a Gibus. What's the logic in that? Well, to craft a random hat, you're going to need 3 refined metal, which is 9 reclaimed metal, which consists of 27 scrap, which comes down to *54 individual weapons*. That's at least 3 weeks of lucky drops. 3 weeks of experience = you've gotten better at the game (or you are poor and irish and idle). And that's for 1 hat, which is most likely for one class. Multiply 3 weeks with 9... You get it. Hat does not equal skill, but hats equal *_experience_*. And last of all: be honest. Would you feel more intimidated by a Gibus Pyrovision Mercenary Power Canteen Machina Razorback Sniper or a Sniper with a Burning KE, buds, and a Scorching Viewfinder with 12k kills on their Professional Killsteak Australium Sniper Rifle on a 24 killstreak? This is just my rant on the whole Hats =/= Skill situation.

When TF2 became free, two main stereotypes of players rose up. For instance... F2P = The Known Noob, and the person that thinks they are better than everyone else, or a CoD player. P2P = The Jackass, thinks all F2Ps are noobs, think they are better than F2Ps. These are just my speculations of what these stereotypes are. I'm not hating on either side, because when I was F2P, I was horrible and thought it too. Now, I'm a P2P and still think I'm horrible. I just don't think people should instantly judge someone for if they bought something from the store or not. I understand stereotypes like these will continue to exist, and that there isn't much that the community can do to stop the hate besides judge someone of how they play and how they act, and not judge them the minute they see a Gibus on their head.

This guy is saying F2P s are bad. I'm F2P and i am very good. I even got a friend who unboxed a unusual and he really sucks. TF2 is not a RPG that makes your character better for how rare items you got. It's the player it matters of. A unusual doesn't give you plus 5 skill or damage.

Z.Z.Z 99% of f2ps are bad. Seriously I'd love to be the good guy and say "Well not all are bad, hats don't = skill blah blah blah" but in all my time playing TF2 I have never seen a f2p top score a server. And it's also a fact that people don't want to play with f2ps because it's extremely frustrating to have someone on your team who is literally just taking up a lobby slot. People play on community servers to escape f2ps. Im not saying hats = skill but you can generalize that f2ps are bad.

When I see someone with a Gibus, I assume they are new, with about 10 to 15 hours. Most of the time the Gibus is the first hat players get, and I admit it did feel quite satisfying dominating someone for the first time. Of course those players would wear it, because it's basically a badge that tells people you've actually dominated someone.
