My gargoyle gecko tipsare: Feed them insects, and lots of them. Mine loves to pound back crickets like they're going out of style. Seeing as it's spring, she'd rather eat bugs than Pangea right now. Tip number 2 is to add a UV light to their cage. I've caught mine basking a lot, especially just before the lights turn off at night.

not to be that guy, but gargoyle geckos barely touch bugs
@CryptidGrimm4 жыл бұрын
@@downtoned7053 What? Research has shown that a wild Gargoyle gecko will typically eat more insects than a crested gecko,and will gladly eat small inverts. Even though they are frugivores they still eat a wide variety of insects. Many keepers agree that feeding insects to rhacs is very beneficial. Maybe you are talking about your personal experiences
@MichelleSK64 жыл бұрын
@@downtoned7053 Mine will even eat dubias which are a bit harder to get them and crested interested in 🤷🏻♀️ she's very enthusiastic about them too lol.

Do they require uv light and a heat source? Seems like they didn't use either.
@GenerationalGeckos6 жыл бұрын
I my self use New Caledonia seasons. There fore my lighting is on a timer to mimic their seasons, also my mister is timed for the rainy seasons long with their not so rainy season. I keep my temperatures according to New Caledonia temps in the seasons. As far as a heat source it depends where your at. If you live in a cold area you want a heat source, as far as UVB I use a very low watt tropical UVB. I find that only my females will come out in the day time and actually lay on the hugest part of the branches. My males never come out in the day time. Do you really need a uvb that’s up in the air. As for myself I do use a very low wattage uvb tropical and a plant LED light, because they are high tree dwellers. I have them in a bioactive live set up so I have lots of plants and humidity. I hope this helps.

Altadena reptiles, I've been keeping and breeding gargoyle geckos for about 10 years now. What i do is as of diet for babies i only feed Pangaea and calcium mixed into it till there about 3months old. Then at 3 months old i start giving the small supper worms and small roaches with vitamin and calcium, and offer Pangaea every 3rd day. as for breeding i guess the only thing i do different is i give them a dry season, where i only put a humid hid and a water bowl day i don't mist them for about almost two months.

I know I am late but I need some help. I have an 8 month old gargoyle gecko. I offer her ( I like to think its a girl even though I have no proof yet) food every night, and sometimes she eats it on her own, and sometimes I feed it to her out of concern of nutrition. I keep the temp at about 75-78 in the day and 71-69 at night. I know she can eat the pang ea on her own, but she hasn't grown any heavier in the last month and a half. I have her in a 12 gallon leopard gecko cage with plants and hides and four different food sources, At night she is alert and I can hear her going about the cage making noise. I guess my concern is that she isn't growing. She's only grown about a half gram in the the three months that I've had her. Any advice?
@forlornqueen5 жыл бұрын
Please just let her be. Would you want someone force feeding you? When you choose to bring an animal home, it's your responsibility to provide a safe habitat with adequate food and water, So that they can live out their best possible life in peace and health. No one is going to live their best life and thrive when a giant is grabbing at them and stuffing things in their mouth regularly. I understand you mean well and sorry if this sounds harsh but I'm here to speak for the animals well being not yours. I've seen this done a lot and it's infuriating. Captive animals deserve to have the best care possible and part of this is letting them regulate their own bodies and lives. Your only job is to provide as close to an ideal habitat as possible that mimics their version of Eden and then let them be to not only survive captivity but thrive in it. I'm assuming no one else wanted to say this so bluntly since you've gotten no response yet. It sounds like you care enough to provide for you lizard what she needs but if you've done that already the most important thing you have left to learn is letting her exercise free will and live out her own life without constant interference by you.

forlornqueen I was asking a question about my gecko dude. Chill
@scheherezade35 жыл бұрын
As long as she’s eating and pooping don’t worry. They’re not fast growers. Pooping and activity are pretty good indicators. Now if she isn’t doing those things or starts losing weight, it’s time to see a vet. By the way for the other commenter. Hand feeding is not force feeding. It’s holding a cup of food for the animal to eat. I got slugs in an enclosure before, probably from eggs I couldn’t see that were stuck to the plants.Hand feeding my gecko and not leaving food in the enclosure gave me a chance to basically starve them out after I had tried cleaning, repotting plants etc. Gargs are pretty mellow. If you’re gentle and patient they don’t mind coming out to visit for a bit once they’re a little older.
@jonstringer37385 жыл бұрын
Why are people so obsessed with what colours these animals can be manipulated into rather than just being interested in the animals themselves, hopefully they will grow up in the future and realise that the natural colours that are vital to survival anyway are just fine
