Definitely love how the patterning on them looks like tree bark with mosses and lichens growing on it. Their natural camouflage is amazing! But I can also see why they are slow to take off in the pet trade - at least compared to Crested Geckos. The price tags on Chahouas is still pretty high up there, especially on the larger and more colorful specimens.

These are just beautiful! The patterns look like moss and lichen growing on trees. Although New Caledonia and New Zealand are very far apart on the map, both actually lie within the same huge continent, Zealandia, most of which is now submerged but wasn't always.

It's perfectly normal to pay that much for Chahouas becauese they're worth it. I paid $19,244 for my latest one (really good deal) and I have seven of them. My first I paid $47,233.00 back in 2013 for one, then in 2017 I got a nice white collar for the first time for $34,000ish, and then later that year a bonded pair of white collar high green Pine Islands for $119,244.00 (that's a reasonable price for two at this condition) and then just last year I finally purchased a very very high end Pine Island white collar high red and green base super morph for $279,144 at a repticon around holidays. I've already bred them and have produced six babies so far that I've sold for $115,000 each (some on MorphMarket and some in person California). It's not what I normally sell babies for though, normally I'd sell for only $65,000 - $75,000 but that's changed since I have better morphs these days. I'd say over the years I've made 4.7m dollars or so and spent 2.5m on Chahouas. I'm currently looking at one online for $726,000 axanthic with high black coloration and am considering getting that one but I need to buy a house for my in laws so who knows. If they end up finding a place in San Francisco maybe I'll help but I'm only willing to pay up to $5,000,000 in down payment on their house because I really need to focus on my business as is. So if I get the Axanthic I'll start selling babies once I get axanthic morphs regularly and they'll go for minimum $300k

@Dreadnok_K63 жыл бұрын
The longer time to breeding maturity, smaller total number of clutches, and less succesful hatch rate compared to leopards and cresteds, plus less breeders comparatively, lends to the higher prices. Not to mention they're probably the coolest of the NC Geckos.

@nataliesreptiles3 жыл бұрын
Same reason some people would pay $1700 for a ball python. Depending on genetics and/or how difficult certain types are to breed, it bumps the price tag up because all that effort creates value for that animal.
@robertblackmore49194 жыл бұрын
Eh. These and leeches are overrated and to pricey. Zero reason to pay that much sorry. Just wait til he market is watered down. Especially when care is essentially the same as gargs and crested.
