Yes, because it’s apart of being an Artist, Music is Art and a lot of Artists was raised in the Church before all the fame and fortune so yeah I believe you can work with Any Artist you feel like working with as long as you get the message out to the people doesn’t matter if it’s Gospel, Hip-Hop/ Rap, R&B, Jazz, Country, Reggae, or Pop Music as long as it’s glorifying God’s name and people can vibe to it it’s alright. Kirk Franklin worked with Lil Baby, Fred Hammond worked with Kanye West, Lecrae worked with Ty Dolla $ign, Tasha Cobbs worked with Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg did a whole Gospel album and a few songs with the Clark Sisters and these the biggest stars in Hollywood

Gucci, Migos, Dolph .. not knowing that all have Zay in common! Which makes since because I’m a church singer too and his sound is churchy. It’s wild how it comes together. I’m thankful to not be on trap music like that anymore lol but I see why I was loving it at one point.

Lecrae, you as a rapper, and that being your craft it makes sense to some extent that you would listen rappers of all kinds for the skill of rapping and musical composition. But would you say maybe a regular joe that's not a rapper or producer should probably not listen to rap about drugs and sex and violence all day long? It helps You hone your craft, but as a Christian maybe the average person should steer clear of filling their mind and spirit with that and just excusing it with "well I was just jamming out, I wasn't really listening to the words" Cuz what happens when the words are demonic, or a Wiccan ritual chant, or slander against God by a staunch atheist, would it still be OK to listen to just cuz you like the vibe? I think the words matter and if they're not in line with the Bible maybe it's actually the more Christian thing to do in staying away from that. Just some questions for deeper conversation and soul-searching. Keep doing your thing man

As a believer of Christ we are called to certain communities and Zay is called to be a witness and a light in the community he is in with the other rappers. He has to be intentional and not allow the atmosphere to change him but be an atmosphere changer. We are called to be the light and salt of the world to make a difference. I would say the ability to create a new sound is to be applauded. What I will say is although he cannot control what people say on his beats, because he wasn’t judgmental and met people where they were at he was able to impact people. He was able to show Christ like ways to people who in other realms would have no introduction to Christ. Think about it, Jesus took people as they were but to stay with him you had to change. Now think about Gucci is a different man because he had. Zaytoven around him.

How do you live life proclaiming the Gospel and be involved in explicit music? Even making it yourself. Just remember who you say you represent Zay.
@joncpreaching3 ай бұрын
@Lecrae, As a Christian and black man I say no to collabs with the ungodly. I just checked out Big Krit’s latest song and he definitely isn’t rapping something that edifies God or the body. When I first heard of Ty$ because of your collab I went and searched him on KZbin. I had to click off immediately because of the images. Just think of all the Christians that do the same but stay over there in that world. I work with the unsaved but it isn’t to further satan’s kingdom. Why CHH is a sensitive topic and dear to me is because it was one of the things that pulled me out of the world so in a sense I feel I have to defend it. I got saved at 15. From 16-20 I backslid. You know what I was listening to? 36 Mafia, Project Pat, Skinny Pimp, Playa Fly, MJG & 8 Ball. My wife introduced me to Cross Movement, Da Truth, and Flame as I’m making my way back to Christ. Never looked back. Then I was hooked to Lecrae’s early stuff. I’m from the hood and streets. Grew up with the vice lords and moe’s. Sold weed, partied, fornicated, was on much wickedness. Music was a stronghold and it provoked me to do the actions I was doing. Listen to what goes into the music aimed at our communities. Killing of our own people, miss use of our women (fornicating and not marrying), selling and doing drugs, leaving our children without fathers because either they are on the run from the law, hopping from woman to woman, running the streets, trapping, feeding generational curses, etc. Notice at 28:44 what Zay says about that environment. We know trap, gangster rap is sinister. Then we complain that this mess is going on in our communities?! Then we blame white people?! Smh. Naw, we need to look into the mirror and own our stuff. CRT has been taught to us as reverse phycology mentality and we believe we are victims because it’s been prophesied over us in school and music. Is there racism? Of course, but that won’t be my filter or my five black sons’ filter or lense they see opportunities through. When we do right by The Most High, we are blessed. A systemic system can’t dictate that to us what level of success or achievement can be when we walk in righteousness. God gives us favor just like Joseph, Daniel, David. The Bible says faith comes by hearing, and hearing of the Word of God. What do you think the non faith words do? Evil commutation corrupts good manners the Bible says. Look what it did when Moses sent the spies out to inherit the promised land. Only two had a good report but the others sowed wicked words. And look at the results of that. All the adults couldn’t enter the promised land besides Caleb and Joshua because they had a good report and told everyone God was able to deliver the land into their hands. And we think this is a light thing? Something has to change and y’all two brothers have been given the responsibility to be that change on that side. I can’t go and speak to some of those brothers in those circles. But when I see my guys from the block, guess what I’m doing? Preaching the gospel to them because I want to see them in the Kingdom of God, not in hell or the lake of fire. If it’s a decision about who will like me or pay me, we have to choose God every time and trust he will take care of our needs no matter what. Some things get activated by faith. Example, when Abraham went to slay Isaac, immediately the angels said stop. Some things will not produce until the faith is activated, no questions asked. Many fail the test because they won’t activate the faith in obedience. The real issue is how you meet people and judge people for where they are in the process. We don’t beat them down or put them in a hell none of us have keys to, but we also call people to true repentance. If we never tell them they have a soul problem, they will never repent and turn to Jesus to save them from an eternity separated from God. Jesus’ message was so strong he aimed it towards those who were supposed to be holy, the Pharisees, Sadducees, etc. and sinners alike. We have to be true to God while not compromising to be people pleasers or walk in the fear of man. Someone told us the good news of the gospel right? So we would be selfish not to share with the hood or whomever

They are destroying the black communities and yet it’s another race’s fault. I completely respect the fact that he was able to remain a family guy and not falling into the obvious sins. I also understand how it’s nice to have your church’s support. However, 2 things: I don’t think it’s wise to promote anyone’s music that’s not Godly if you’re a pastor. I also feel like even if it’s not blatant, spending a lot of time with folks not living God’s way it wears down the sensitivity you have to the Spirit of GOD. You end up just playing in or working in church, but I feel the Lord has to compete with all the other worldly/sinful influences. No matter what they say (and I went through this years ago) but even if you don’t want to be like the secular music and you think you’re not listening…it DULLS your spiritually sensitivities.

The fact he is helping make music for the devil and so many people who claim to follow Christ think it’s okay is insane. We as a body have to be better with following Christ over culture. Lecrae said he was making “soul” music for rap you all better pay attention. If God used the world to get him to gospel why wouldn’t God say now leave it alone??? He keeps saying he is a “church boy” that’s not the same as a “Christ follower” I pray he has a true encounter with the Lord and he takes heed and repent. “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?” II Corinthians 6:14 “Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?” Amos 3:3
