Meet the Homebrewer - Black IPA Brewday

I recently met up for a fabulous brewday with my good friend Przemek Wnek from Poland. Przemek recently moved to Castlemartyr in East Cork and built himself a very impressive homebrew brewery out his back garden - when I say impressive I mean impressive. In this video we brew a Black IPA, recipe from Przemek, on his own custom built brewing kit.

Brilliant video as usual from you guys! Really, really enjoyed it. You seem to have a great Homebrew scene going on over there and i wish I was part of it👍 I loved the brewery set up it was an excellent use of space and if it was mine I think I would put my bed in there😂 Two further points, my favourite part of brewing is stirring in the grains and mashing. I always get excited when I put the first few grains in, it is the start of an adventure for me, good, or bad in some cases😂 The second point is I have also started buying grains in bulk too to keep the cost down and not worrying if I have enough grains left for a quick brew. I recently made two silly videos 😂😂😂 for You Tube about running out of grain and having to go out and buy a sack. In the end I ended up with a few more. The other video was trying to get rid of a few😂 At the moment I am fermenting a blackberry and black currant sour. I have never made one before so it is a case of wait and see how it turns out. Cheers man, we'd a fantastic brewday together and Przemeks enthusiasm to homebrewing is something I really admire which is why I wanted to showcase his brewery, custom equipment, approach and skill. That Blackberry and Blackcurrant sour sounds amazing. I recently brewed a Raspberry Berliner Weisse and it turned out fantastic.... first time too, I think it was beginner's luck 😂👍🍻 Bulk buying is the way to go, my account will be €400 lighter over the coming days 😉😉😉 Cheers bud 🍻👍

@@thegingerpowerranger Actually it's 3 vessel system... not needed anything else... for a while. Some upgrades and additions like pumps ect... but in future 👍

Wow what an amazing video! I've watched all of them and this is definitely one of my favourites. I love how raw and uncut it is and how passionate Prezemek is about Poland and the beer he makes. It is this kind of video that will inspire other home brewers to experiment and shows all of us that if you set your mind to something then everything is possible. Really looking forward to seeing the tasting video! On a side note: Camera work doesn't seem as flawless as your other recent videos but I'll attribute you that to the few beers that you more likely had off camera ;)

It was get to get the opportunity to showcase Przemek and his passion for homebrewing, he takes that passion to the next level in many aspects from his brewery to Instagram. I can't wait for the tasting video too, just need to arrange with Mr Przemek on how we do that one. Absolutely agree with your point on the camera work, I had a total shitshow of a day when it came to production and it comes across, I need to lay off da beer on the next video and get my main cameraman back in action😉😉😉😉 🤜🤛🍻

That mixer needs to be put in the sparge tank. No doubt there is challenges with that but it would make remove the step of moving grains and cleaning the boil kettle. Great video!

If I'll move it in to sparge tank, I couldn't do step mash as there'sno heating elements... so doesn't make sense for me ...

I'm still work on it... this one was second brew and BeerSmith shows 81% I think I'll reach 85% with time. Thanks for the comment 🍻

Do you worry about hot side aeration of the wort sparging and then pouring it back into the boil kettle? Does it cause any issues in the final beer?

Hi there, I think it could be bigger problem after boiling, I didn't found any issues with final beer. I'm planning to invest in small pump in the future, so will have comparison. Thanks for the comment 🍻
