Great video mate, you really have a knack for this sort of thing. A couple of tool suggestions for Will I'm sure he would be great at making that crossed my mind that I haven't seen anyone else make recently (unless you know otherwise) would be wooden and brass squares and levels ? Both technically challenging that he might fine interesting to try.

Thank you!! I dont know of anyone doing wood and brass. I know Hill View Tools (Tony) does all metal and Will is all wood but a cross between would be cool!

Funny you should mention that. I’m thinking a mill might be in my future. I’ve thought about making small levels but didn’t know if there’s be a market.

@@Honey_Brook_Tools If there's a market for winding sticks and panel gauges there must be for squares and levels of the same quality, its all in the same ball park ? The way Mr Creations was speaking I gather wooden squares with brass inlays seem more unusual in the States ? (apologies if I'm wrong) There are lots of vintage examples here in the UK but I don't think anyone is making them new today, I just thought the precision you like and the types of wood you use might work really well .

@@ianelleyI think folks on this side of the pond are more accustomed to metal squares even though wooden squares have been made since squares have been a thing. Once people feel wooden squares in hand, they appreciate the feel and balance. I’ve looked for antique wooden squares but haven’t bbfound any here, but I’ll keep looking. I’d love to have several as inspiration.

Great job making a business that keeps with your interests, tools, and skills. Too many YTers grow their business and their shop turns into a CNC and shipping box storage. For me, and seems you as well, losing the ability to prototype takes out all the fun! ps - you're giving me seller's remorse on my old Rockwell lathe!! (went to a chair maker in OH)

I agree and I am glad Will hasn't gone to CNCs. There is just something different about hand made vs CNC. I heard those Rockwell lathes are good but the benefits of the new ones outweigh the old. I think? I'm not a turner tho, I leave that to Will hahaha

I endorse the Australian wood content. However, the timbers described are desert timbers that are as hard as a kidney stone. There are some really nice tropical hardwoods (like Queensland maple - not a maple - and Silky Oak -not an oak) , temperate hardwoods especially from Tasmania (like Huon Pine - not a pine, Tasmanian Oak - still not an oak), even alpine hardwoods (like Victorian Ash - not an Ash).

you listed this perfectly! hahahah maple - not a maple, ash - not an ash! Has me cracking up hahah

@@BatCaveCreations Hoop pine is also not a pine, and Queensland Walnut is not, you guessed it, a Walnut. Today I got an Australian woodworking school textbook from the 1940s which had that after each description of Australian timbers. But Gidgee is a Gidgee.

Some of those you mention are on my list to try. That said, I really love these dense Aussie timbers. They take some patience but they’re worth it!
