It’s such a long time ago, I don’t think it was opportunity cost. It was the first actual transaction which initiated a revolution worth much more than the opportunity cost.

Let me give you example.Imagine one guy walking to the near forest every day, and every time he come back he brings sticks from wood. After few months, when the sticks became a lot, ocupying his whole garage he puts advert that he is selling them. Somebody reply to the offer paying him the amount of money of the 2 pizza ~30$ and they make a deal.

Its a lie, if Laszlo had 10000 bit and sold it for a pizza, I am sure he would have had more. He believed in the future of bitcoin and sold those coins to prove bitcoin could be used for transactions. Why would he sell all his bitcoin and have none left. Bitcoin was hard to mine back in the day. It probably cost him hundreds of dollars to mine the bitcoin 10000 bitcoin, if so why would you sell it for $40?. Its all bull, bitcoin was created by the U.S government.

Price dump is also likely mid -show airing by those same people should it become clear the show has a negative slant on things. I always hear the ill thought out hatchet job on bitcoin about it being for crooks and villains... Used by the underbelly of society... ( and no doubt it is to some degree )... Just like.... Ooh you know... US Dollars! ( and every other means of exchange throughout history ). I know which one is more traceable with every single transaction ever immutably entered forever on a world wide ledger that ANYONE can view at any time. Hardly the choice of a criminal organisation.

At the time that was true. If you had a whole bunch of penny stocks and sold them for pennies to buy pizza you still just paid ... The cost of the pizza. The whole pennies increasing in value by orders of magnitude... Takes a crystal ball...? Even if Bitcoin's genius parts were obvious for some early adopters... Always there was the question of whether people would buy into the mass acceptance that currency needs to guarantee value.

Eric P That's pretty insular thinking Eric. The value stems from the fact it's immutable, nobody, no one government or bank own it or control it's value, the people do. That was the huge reason it came into existence; giving back control. As a form of exchange in its current state it's not ideal, but it's a great store of value. People are starting to use it to buy real tangible physical goods and services. JP Morgan, Golman Sachs, Citybank, Chase, Fidelity, ICE, Cboe, CME, Rothschilds and many many other huge financial institutions see the appeal of a financial instrument that can be traced and followed, traded, exchanged for other things. Money (fiat not backed by anything) is just numbers created endlessly on a whim of a bank or government, devaluing existing fiat money in the process, ever more to share around. Bitcoin with its fixed limited supply of 21 million in the entire world ( and already an estimated 4 million "lost" through error by owners forgetting wallet keys, dead hard drives and such where the owners had not made back-ups on other hardware or failed to create paper wallets (the required data written down) etc etc Each owner become their own bank, they have sole responsibility for security and safe storage of owned assets.

Thank you for being a pioneer, Laszlo. And I understand the sentiment since you discovered a way to get a better mining results than others with clever programming and the clever use of alternate hardware and had correspondence with Satoshi encouraging more egalitarian behavior. Distributing wealth and encouraging the project was just, and historically significant. What is the value of that? It is beyond dollars and cents and in the realm of legendary behavior.

I have to say that I was very disappointing in the main 60 minutes program on Bitcoin. It was quite obvious that the program was more interested in portraying Bitcoin as some kind of high risk transient investment that made some people very rich but has no real credibility. It had the expected focus on those that run it don't really know what they are doing followed by a female governor from Central Reserve telling everybody how the dollar is so much better in that it is regulated and protected by so many systems. It also focuses on one early Bitcoin adopter who ends up in prison for a year. Finally the last scene is cleverly edited so that Anderson suggests that people will look back in time and like email think that it was stupid to even question Bitcoin and then they cut back to the supposed female protagonist stating that it is quite possible to see crypto currencies "totally flame out and die". Seriously if 60 minutes are going to do a program like this can they at least provide a balanced view on it instead of filling people's heads with the obvious anti crypto sentiment that is held by the producers of the program. I think everybody saw from the financial crises of 2008 how little we can trust the financial system, bankers and the government and Bitcoin is at least an attempt to allow for some kind of financial independence with individuals. Why could they not demonstrate some of the advantages of crypto currency and show a little more forward thinking about how everybody can benefit in time. If only the program could have portrayed a little more what the vision was for Satoshi and what Bitcoin is meant to be.

if you alter history it will never play out like it did. Those 10,000 bitcoins would be worthless if they were still in his pocket. Him spending those bitcoins created a chain reaction, a $1.4 billion reaction.

update: 550 mill. The price of bitcoin reflects the printing of $ More money printed since covid than the history of the dollar. Inflation has been here in real estate and stock for decades.' Protect yourself and your family from the Fed, an institution that wants to keep you poor and in debt Bitcoin has no top becasue the dollar has no bottom. It will move in cycles, this one ends in September. Keep stacking, it's us vs the money changers, this is biblical

I spent around 10k trx during nitron in sf ca - it was all gains so it wont matter to me. We should be spending our crypto also - if everyone hodl 100% it would be worthless.
