Best piece of equipment ever built, have 3 of them, most operators today aren't skilled enough to run it effectively, 4 in 1 bucket is a crutch for the handicapped

Nice to see a resurgence of the tracked loader. Fantastic machine for so many jobs. They are only under-utilized because contractors lack the imagination to apply the machine to a variety of duties. Digging, backfilling, grading, loading, land clearing, spreading material, compacting, sorting,... the list goes on. Brute force and finesse all in one package, that can do the work of a dozer, excavator, grader and compactor like no other machine. Used much more in Europe than in North America, it's time Cat ramped up their marketing of this machine to the United States and Canada, and showcase its abilities to contractors.

Well said. You cannot beat the versatility of a track loader. Most large contractors don't use them.

Like it's been said a four in one bucket added. Also, one thing I almost never see them with is grouser pads. Always thought that was odd. Spent a little bit of time with a John Deere 450 way back in the day and also spent time with the 953-963 and 973 . It seems like they fell out of Vogue so many people have replaced them with excavators and I always thought that was odd

Interesting. I didn't know they still made these. The only ones you see around here are from the early 80's or earlier. I bet one of the reasons is that they probably don't do well when there is a lot of rocks and boulders in the ground, which is very common here.

I had 1964 or 65 the Tonka Loader. Was one of my favorites toys. All metal with black rubber tracks. On dirt this beats a wheel loader hands down more stable & lower center of gravity.

I happen to own a 2015 Cat 973 with 700 hours when I purchased it like new and ac heat in its cab. They sure are heavy for but my tracks are 24” wide and deeper cleats. It was privately owned and didn’t see much use. It was only used for back up when another crawler would need matinece or broke down. I sold my front end loader it was replaced my crawler I just didn’t need it any longer I jump back and forth from Lake Michigan to Lake Huron and anywhere in between installing sea walls and cleaning out shore lines of debris and boulders which it works so much better that my front end loader, It wasn’t cheap by far but for what use it for it is the best for cleaning our the shorelines along the Great Lakes up to about 4 - 5 feet deep water. I was fortunate it came with the ripper and regularly blade for pushing. I installed light bars on all 4 sides and one on its bucket that I can quickly remove. I do a lot f night time jobs plus I had to add another 1,200 lbs counter weight to its rear to help keep the tracks planted flat when lifting and moving really heavy boulders. To help me see into the water I mounted a water proof and quick remove camera on the top of the bucket easily removed to help me see but rocks and debris under the water in front of the bucket. I had done the same things on my front end loader and found those things really worked great for my needs. Nothing like loading gravel and other types of gravel. Can you tell I love this tractor I have had it 2 years now and I just can’t see why so many operators don’t care for them. Thanks and stay safe and well. Cheers

Diesel and Iron - On and off for the next four months I was suppose to be working in Wisconsin along their shoreline along with my brother mainly using his dragline to pull houses out the water the erosion has caused them to end up in the water. We were suppose to work in upper Michigan at one point or another but now that’s on hold. I keep pretty busy between my company and my brothers but things don’t look good. The way things are I am not sure what our timeline will be such as our jobs. Some have be put on hold for lack of money and others are waiting for better weather like in the summer when the waves aren’t so high. Anymore the weather is so unpredictable but hopefully when it finally warms up the water will settle down. Last night along the shoreline west of Holland Michigan they waves were 10-12 feet breaking on shore. It’s going to be a very bad summer for business’s like mine and the states having to put so many plans on the back burner. It’s really been bad financially for myself and my brother the last few months and I hope I can hang onto my equipment as does my brother. What equipment I have he doesn’t and the other way around. Are you an operator or? Thanks stay safe and well.

do they have the same push power as a bulldozer yet the ability to scoop and fill trucks without the issues with tires that can go flat on sharp rocks or debris..
@CatProducts6 жыл бұрын
Hi Wayne! That’s a good way to put it. Pro’s are that a TTL can go places a wheeled machine can’t, such as very soft ground, wet/muddy conditions, and steep slopes. Con’s would be slower travel speed and possibly higher undercarriage vs tire cost. Track loaders can perform a wider variety of tasks, as you mentioned Dozing and Grading like a dozer.
