He was feeling for his pulse to see if it went up or down. Polygraphs measure blood pressure, pulse and I think your diaphragm (breathing). The main reason they are inadmissible in court is because they can't tell if you are lying, they can only tell if you are nervous. Sad story because she was checked into 2 hospitals for breathing problems and was diagnosed as having bronchitis and told to take Tylenol and sent home. She collapsed at her home and was unconcious on the way to the hospital...then pronounced dead at the hospital where they found out she really had pneumonia.

Asking the father is a nice tradition, not permission (bars). 😂 It's a sign of respect, and an opportunity for the man to tell his future wife's father how much he loves her, and that he'll take care of her. It's dropped off in popularity over the years, but I think it's a sweet gesture because a) most fathers tend to worry a lot about their daughters' partners, and b) it shows that the future husband has confidence, respect, and takes marriage seriously. ❤

My husband asked my father for his blessing before he proposed to me. I found it quite heart warming that he'd show my father that respect. I was very close with my dad. I think it can be hard for a dad to step back from that protective role. It also brought my dad and my husband closer together. They were like father and son until the day my dad passed away.

Its a throw back to old fashioned times for a man to ask a womans father for permission to marry. The father of the bride traditionally pays for the wedding (or at least part of it) as well so there is a reason why. It was also up to the father to thoroughly vet a potential suitor too to make sure hes not an abuser or a bad person/role model for his grandkids.
