l wish it wasn't so easy for people to own exotic animals in the U.S. Far too many people buy animals they simply can't handle and they end up messing them up psychologically or given them up for adoption again and again. It's so sad. It's so nice to know there are people out there who rescue and try to reverse the damage and find them appropriate forever homes. Absolute legends!

What I really liked about that place is that they didn't try to demonize the owners who had to give up their birds. They recognized that sometimes there are genuine reasons for having to give up a beloved pet and they also facilitate temporary housing for the birds that need it so their owners don't have to permanently re-home them.

When I was a little girl in El Salvador I would see a school of parrots 🦜 every afternoon flying south. Their routine never failed, and I was about 5 years old, and I remember waiting for them to fly by on top of my roof. I am so happy SOMEONE is doing something to protect these beautiful creatures.

Poor babies, they are so beautiful and sweet. I hope they find amazing, loving homes. One day I'll add some feathered babies to the family (I'll need some more room first!)

What a wonderful service they are providing. Purple don't research what they are getting into when they take on these big, beautiful birds. My friend has always adopted her birds. She had two young macaws they she has willed to her daughter. So they will always have a home.

Adopting a parrot is definitely the best way to get one. I used to have a special needs quaker parrot he was awesome even with his health issues and even though he was limited in what he could learn to do. Thank you fir showing the bird rescue. Many people looking for parrots don't think about going to a rescue but there are always available birds at a rescue.

My grandmother adopted a bird from a relative who died, she didn’t really want a bird but she was the only person the bird wouldn’t attack in the family so the family said this is going to be your bird and so she says I guess I’ll take them and she took care of him until one day after having a bath he got cold and never recovered and died. Even though these birds can be demanding they can also be a great delight. 🦜

Ahh this was lovely to see. I’ve mentioned this before but we had an Orange-Winged Amazon (a bird I’ve never personally known anyone else to have here in England) for 25years until he passes away 4 years ago (I was 3 when my parents bought him). He was a...character...shall we say lol. I miss him terribly :( he was the annoying brother I never had lol. Unfortunately, we do think he was an illegal import (this was late 80s, early 90s when the illegal importation of exotics was a huge problem) as he was missing a toe, fully grown, and the pet shop knew nothing about him. He was certainly not hand reared and it took him 17years to not have the goal of biting me (even after 25years there was only ever my mom and me who could be near him without an attack). After all the animals I’ve owned and loved though, George has a special place that will never be filled - I don’t think I could ever own another parrot because of this, but this video has given me the idea to see if there are any parrot rescues in my area - thanks again Dav :)

There is a parrot sanctuary in BC Canada. They run on donations and volunteers, maybe you could do a video on that, so that more people could know about it and they could get some help and more donations. I'm sorry I dont remember the name or the exact place it is.

I hate seeing all these wonderful animals that people have just given up on. Deaths are one thing, but dropping them just because they made your life a little harder is selfish as hell. You take a life "under your wing" so to speak, that should be it. Does it make it harder to move, YES, but that's the commitment you should know you make when taking one in.

I hate the way people keep these parrots in such backward old ways. No wonder they are stressed and pulling out their feathers. They should not be in cages like this, they need a large aviary or huge flight cage, and be in pairs or groups outdoors as much as possible, with rain showers, sunshine and fresh air, plus room to fly. It should be illegal to keep parrots in small cages like this! Imagine keeping your cat or dog in a tiny cage every day.
