So here are some talking points as most of us all know at least some of the stories: Bigby is, of course, the Big Bad Wolf the characters seen in some stories such as the three little pigs and Little Red Riding Hood as is The Woodsman who did exactly what he said. Cut open the wolf's belly filled it with stones and then drowned him. Snow White believe it or not is the name of two separate characters from two separate fairy tales there is, of course, the more famous Seven Dwarfs story though in the continuity of fables from which this game is based on the dwarves were particularly unpleasant to her and a source of repressed memories. However she's combined with the titular character from Snow White and Rose Red another fairytale accounted by The Brothers Grimm but apparently, they are two separate characters. Snow White and Rose Red were twin sisters both named for their different colored hairs and somewhat conflicting personalities. They were inseparable pair but if you read the comics you'll know that time has been unkind to them. Ichabod Crane, of course, is the skittish and superstitious Schoolmaster of Sleepy Hollow who tried to Court the daughter of the wealthiest estate in the village much to the ire of Brom Bones the Town Hero Mr. Toad is of course from Kenneth Grahame's classic children's novel The Wind in the Willows about the lives and trials of the river-dwelling anthropomorphic woodland animals the most famous of which being Mr. Toad an eccentric Aristocrat blowing his fortune on the latest of fads his favorite being the early motor cars which he was arrested for stealing and endangered his ancestral estate Donkeyskin yes was a real fairy tale by Charles Perrault; the tale of a king with an enchanted donkey that can poop gold... no, I'm not kidding. Tries to marry his daughter the princess because French no I'm just kidding but it is a French story and so she flees with the skin of the Donkey and a ring; from there the story becomes something of a Cinderella retelling of her becoming a servant in another kingdom and falling in love with the prince who ends up finding her ring and declaring the one who would wear it would be his bride. Bumfkin is a flying monkey from L. Frank Baum's Oz series. Gren is Grendel, the monster that fought Beawolfe, a British epic poem and one of the oldest known English texts there. So old in fact that it was written in ancient English and therefore so many of its passages still remain untranslated to this day. Bluebeard is the title character of another fairytale by Charles Perrault, about a young maiden who married an ugly but rich aristocrat named for his thick and brightly colored beard who after leaving on a trip gave her the instruction to have the castle to herself except for a single chamber. When the curiosity got the better of her she snuck a peek into it she found the bodies of his previous wives. Bluebeard has since been used for the male equivalent to Black Widows; slang for serial murders who wed for money or status or something else than kill the spouses and reap the benefits. Tweedledee and Tweedledum are two characters that Alice met on her second Adventure, "Through the Looking Glass and what Alice found there". Georgie is the title character of the classic nursery rhyme "Georgie Porgy" Narissa.... *sighs* Narissa.... for those of you who are not aware Hans Christian Andersen without maybe entirely intending to, wrote this as a sort of allegory for his own closeted homosexuality. Feelings, desires, emotions he didn't understand and couldn't articulate even if he did or wanted to. The Little Mermaid fell in love with a man and gave up a part of herself to be with him but she also gave up her voice, and struggle to communicate with the prince, and... she failed. She died alone and unwed. I am no expert in any of these stories many of them I have not read but I have a long-term love and Fascination for classic literature so of course I'm more than a little interested in the trivia and wanted to provide a comprehensive comment that at least two lists these characters and their origins and I know they're not that obscure but some of them are being overlooked and therefore it's important to at least give you the basics

If you liked the game and the darker versions of fairy tales it portrays, you should really think of reading the fables comics series. That is the inspiration for the game and is one of my favourite comic series of all time.

I can’t stress how much fun I found this game to be, how much I loved looking at it, exploring it, and living in this bizarrely imaginative world of Fabletown. It’s remarkable how well this strange comic book has translated over to the world of adventure gaming, and how successfully Telltale has applied their choice-driven story mechanics to this universe. While The Walking Dead was never "fun" in the traditional sense, but rather more emotionally exhausting and skillfully engaging, Faith is peculiarly compelling while being deviously humorous, simultaneously bright and gritty, and always deliriously entertaining.

Fables can die. They're just hard to kill unless you know exactly what to use to kill. Bigby for example, his weaknesses are: Fire and silver bullets. That's just two of them. I can't remember what the rest is

actually all Fables are pretty much immortal when it comes to age however how hard they are to kill depends on how popular they are. Bigby is so popular that silver is pretty much the only conventional way to kill him and that's only because of the lycanthropy that Snow cursed him with so he could take human form. For example Snow is so popular she took a bullet clear through the head and recovered with no brain trauma.

You should play Tales From The Borderlands. It's the best Telltale game I've ever played, the characters are very well written. It's a sequel to Borderlands 1 and 2, but you don't need to play them to enjoy the Telltale game.

It's probably not for sale since Telltale lost some of its licenses when it went broke. They may be renegotiating some of those licenses, in which case it'll be available again eventually. I'm one of the lucky ones since it was already in my library.

Ichabod Crane is the main character of his story but he's portrayed very differently in the story. Read between the lines and he's actually presented as this suave outsider who "loves food" and eats all the "food" offered by the townswomen. He sleeps with everyone's wives.

As a British person I am highly qualified to explain what a crumpet is. Basically it’s a circular disc like bread product about half an inch thick. During the baking process the surface of the crumpet splits into loads of tiny holes on one side that go vertically through the crumpet. You don’t eat it right out of the packet. Instead you toast it and then spread butter or jam on the side with all the holes. The jam or butter goes into the holes and then you eat it. The toasting process makes the outside firm whilst the inside is soft. They are really delicious.

Telltale is no more but some developer bought some of the rights to their properties and this was one of them. I'm glad. Clearly it was popular enough financially for them to justify a sequel thank god. I was bummed when TT went under and thought we'd never see it again

This is one of my favorite games. It was so painful to wait for every episode to come out, but it was worth it. You are lucky that you didn't have to =). While the cel-shaded graphics are very much 1980s four-color comic pulp come to life, the aesthetic built within them has far more latter-day Michael Mann in its blood, capturing the density of 1980s’ New York along with the sense of dingy isolation, backed by a minimalist, appropriately synthy score. Somehow, it's able to convey this sense even when the game is at its most grand, be it in Fabletown's lavish business offices or the shadowy lairs of its elite caste of criminals.

1:31:50 I like how they don't outright explain everything in the game. for anyone who missed it, since Fables are hard to kill Lawrence was trying different ways of offing himself. he sat on the bed, wrote the note and cut his wrist with the knife, he took the pills and when that wasn't enough finally used the gun but missed his heart and was bleeding out.

yea I think that 1:37:45 is a mistake in the writing, based on everything in the apartment it makes sense that Lawrence did all that some time earlier, Tweedledee just happened to go in moments before Bigby and hid in the closet when he heard them at the door edit: Dee is also covered in blood so it looks at some point the story was so that Dee was in the room when Lawrence shot himself but they later rewrote it but missed that this interrogation dialog and the blood doesn't make sense anymore. a writer for the game did say later that there was a bit of development hell, they kept rewriting stuff for 18 months to get the feel right. there's also a continuation issue when Dee comes into the bar, he has blood on his shirt but not on face, then if you catch him he again has blood on face as well.

also interesting why at 2:49:30 Holly would've been surprised Lily was glamoured as Snow White, like Gren seemed to be aware there was another head found and who did they thought it was at first. guess it's possible Holly didn't connect that the body found in the river belonged to that head, but IMO more likely another writing oversight.

3:10:54 and that's likely a third script snafu, there's no good reason why Lily would've been missing for weeks she was still working "normally". if for example Georgie would've been holding Lily captive because he knew about the girls plans then why would Faith be out walking around? I'm guessing at some story iteration Lily was actually held by Crane in the hotel room as "sleeping Snow White" for all that time and this missing for weeks business is legacy from that. Lily couldn't have been planning anything with Faith if she was held captive and there wouldn't have been reason for Georgie to kill them. also Holly and Grendel knew Lily worked for Georgie so why wouldn't they have gone looking for her over there instead of going to the Business Office?

​@@snooks5607 The thing with both Faith and Lily seemingly leaving Lawrence/being missing missing weeks actually works if you take into account that Nerissa said they were planning on leaving. They were distancing themselves so they have no one who saw them last and could track them. We know Nerissa sold them out before the events of the game, so it suggests they stole the picture weeks prior and started making arrangements to leave.

Fables are hard to kill, some more than others. Some think it depends on how well known you are among the mundies. If so, Disney's probably made some of them immortal. Part of Fabletown's deal is that past crimes are forgiven for the sake of everyone's survival in exile; also, Bluebeard helped a lot of them escape the Adversary... for a price. Sounds like you've got some fairy tales to catch up on, but the stories we know aren't always what actually happened... Snow and the dwarves, for instance. The Once Upon A Time series was supposed to be based on the Fables comics, but it got seriously sidetracked. Looking forward to watching the rest of this. Edited to add for ep2: Jack is... Jack. *Every* Jack. The beanstalk, going up with the hill with Jill, all of 'em. Of course, the stories hype him up far more than the con man he actually is. And that's not Hansel, who grew up to be... far worse. The Little Mermaid's tale didn't end like Disney tells it, she failed to woo the prince and was reduced to sea foam; or not, apparently, though there's obviously no prince now. You missed the flower in the hand of the corpse, so you missed the connection in the hotel room.
