Meeting the Tyrant

Eight months later, Axtor finally gets to make an appearance. I had more content intended for this, mostly animations and the player asking him a few questions before getting to the main subject, but given how long this took I decided to save that for a potential future video, or just for the actual release. The main issue I had was working with the dialogue system. I've been trying to rewrite it, but boy does that take a toll on my frail little brain. As such, as of uploading this I'm still using the obsolete, clunky system. I'm also finding that, for a channel that got big on animation, I really am not good at or enjoy animating. So that kept erecting a mental wall whenever I tried to add an animation to this guy. Hopefully I'll be able to upload the next vid a little sooner now that I have this out of the way. I'll have to return to it eventually, and the dialogue system needs to be rewritten at some point, but for now I can move on to other things to get my enthusiasm for the project back up. Anyway... Initially I wasn't actually going to show what Axtor looked like, but I decided to do so anyway mostly because keeping the camera off of him got too awkward. And well, at least I do get to show off the model, because I am quite happy with his design. Could use some work that really just comes down to my lacking modeling skills, but since I'm doing this for practice it was always a given that some models would fall short of expectation. Some design ideas involved him having spikes coming out of his back and shoulders, another with him having four or six arms, and so on. While I like the one I settled for, it doesn't really convey the "uncontrollable growth" thing, so that's a bit of a bummer. I like his furnace-face though. That turned out well. He's also the noisiest character so far, with one sound emitter for every single joint in his body and fingers, on top of the standard idle noise and typing-sound. I wanted to really convey the metallic nature of his form, so whenever any of his body parts move, they creak in protest because they're solid metal that isn't supposed to bend like that, and whenever his fingers bend, the blades grind against each other. It's not that noticeable here considering he's not moving too much, but hopefully it will become more apparent in upcoming previews. Anyway, see you hopefully sooner than last time as I try to get back to working on this game. I will release it before I die, mark my words. Hopefully significantly sooner than that, too.

The sounds were my favorite part of Axtor! He is entirely metallic but with the ominous hum of him speaking he turned from a generic, horror robot into a psychological terror of this third of the Interverse

I liked the detail of the button for the door being a bit too high for the player unless you jump. It really lets you know this wasn’t meant for you to press.

this is fucking fantastic. you can definitely tell how much work you’ve put in. everything about this new video is better; the animations, the frame rate, the complexity of the dialogue. it’s amazing! not that the other parts were bad by any means at all, i’m just recognizing the work you put in to make this one better. good job willcraft, i can’t wait to see where this goes :)

Willcraft I actually just deepened my voice specifically for the role. Kinda like how some people do ‘batman’ voices. That’s why (at least in my opinion after rewatching it) it was not always consistent, despite my best efforts. Now at age 20 my voice is a lot deeper naturally and I can do it far more consistently. To impress friends I say the lines I have memorized in the voice I used for the rebel leader. Stuff like “I ran away from you once. I will not repeat that mistake again.” Or “Forgive him, all this madness has made him a little paranoid. I am the leader here, and I welcome you to our city. To be frank it isn’t really a city yet. Now, who are you?” Being in your videos back then was the coolest thing to me, and I’m still very happy to this day to have gotten an opportunity to do it. I am excited for your future content, and hope to continue to continue to help, albeit just as a viewer who presses the like button this time. (:

Axtors design and animation turned out great. I like how he creaks whenever he moves. Especially when he moves his hands and slams his fists. And how you can see there are scratches in the throne were his metal fingers usually rest. The dialogue is fantastic too. I don't know if to feel pity or disdain for him. He words things seeing himself as a martyr and in a way making the player inclined to be compassionate. Then on the other hand.. He doesn't seem like a great guy either... Not very "noble" so to speak.

I’m suspecting some kind of timeloop here... Either that, or the travelers aren’t much too different from each other, but that only brings their origin even further into question. Is there some part of the intraverse where they’re made like the broken? If so it must be part we’ve yet to see. As the one before was a dead wasteland, and this one whilst very lively compared, clearly has little connection to the travelers, other than their regular visits.

The Tyrant, of course, has Horns, and watches over everything. There are clear claw marks on his throne's arm rests from where he must have been impatient with waiting for you. This is a revelation, how has the player come here before? I only watched this just now, but perhaps this Tyrant represents something, though what it is I cannot identify. He has grown very, very impatient for sure, though. He has grown wrathful at your blind repetition, having lived through this non-stop. He has given up on trying to stop you, for this is a fight he cannot win. What the Perspective wants is the item which allows this Part of the Intraverse to exist as it is, painful and twisted for its inhabitants as it may be. There is no chance in hell that he will give it to you, and from what he said you cannot take it from him either. All for a sake of a Door. But what Door? What does it lead to? Is this the ultimate, "curiosity killed the cat", tale ever? The Tyrant has a point, but of course the Perspective is an immortal, ressurective fool who cannot ever be stopped. There is no hope of the Perspective giving up. The Tyrant only has this point due to the curse of his knowledge, as he says, only he and those other "two freaks" know things, and thus nobody else knows anything, thus they will never listen. The curse of knowing the futility of Existence, and yet being forced through it nonetheless. ...A malfunction? That is concerning, not funny. I was prepared to laugh, but this is a serious matter. Too much power, and yet most are concerned for having too little. Waste is a necessity for someone like the Tyrant, Axtor. And in the end, the Tyrant himself is becoming a third of the "two freaks", burning from the inside from all the power that pumps into him. Perhaps given enough time he will become power. He has power, and hates it, but the only way to stop the source of the hate is to essentially commit suicide. He doesn't want that. But he takes the burden so that nobody else can use his power for worse evils than he already embodies. I find it easy to find worse ways for him to use his power... even if he makes people just to trap them inside their own bodies, to trap them into simple tasks for eternities on end. The villain of one story may be the hero of another, and vice versa. He calls himself a Tyrant, and yet does this for the good of the Intraverse, making sure the power stays in his hands so the Intraverse doesn't get taken over by someone else, someone even worse... somehow. But then? He gives up. The Darkened Red of Despair represents a broken, flickering glimmer of Will, but now it has been snuffed out, and he has lost all ability to care. He doesn't want it, yet he needs it. He can't end you for good, but he will kill you for now. Boredom drives one to do many things, and if you cannot create your own universe through boredom... perhaps he has, millions of times over, and yet never been satisfied. They never tell you what Eternity does to you... The video ends with the Item, the Power Core or whatever it is, being taken out. Now, the Perspective meets its End. As does my commentary. I am glad that you have returned, Willcraft, for you have inspired me... To. Create. Orizifian.
