I feel though that his "symbolic" branch of government in UK is a bit much... Yes, Queen/King doesn't do much, but I have a question to all the Brits out there: what is the legal basis for Windsor family relinquishing power in Great Britain? Only legal basis I know of is the entirely illegal execution of King Charles by Cromwell... Mind you - I am not saying he didn't have it coming - but I can't really not see the parallel with King John and the Baron Rebellion, and yet John stayed...

I agree. Peterson is right about it being similar energy though. Trump's supporters can tell he's not trying to screw us, and with that comes a level of trust and energy given to him. It's kind of sad that that's all it takes to garner support, but it seems to be a higher bar than a lot of the other politicians can meet.

It's not the point, the British Monarchy is the symbol of the nation which means the politicians can and should get on with making law without the burden of all that "celebrity". It's not about whether the US should be a crowned republic like Britain, it's about whether it's right or healthy for 1 person to wield both the power of he executive AND the circus of celebrity and without being utterly corrupted by it all.

My husband knew a man who worked for Donald Trump. He said he was a great boss. My husband also worked on projects for Donald Trump. He said that Trump was the only developer who would talk to the workers. The other developers were “too good” to talk to the regular people. It’s obvious that he has raised his children right, and THAT is a great legacy for anyone, especially someone who could have coddled his children and turn them into useless socialites. I was at the Presidential Prayer Breakfast, no TV, no cameras allowed. Trump was honoring people, it was about them, even when some of the people tried to honor him. He would say thank you and immediately change the focus back to them. His Scripture verses were completely memorized by him and when he prayed them it was very quiet, very subservient to the Father, God. In closing, he thanked the people for attending, he just chatted it up for quite some time asking people how they are doing. It was a completely different experience than rallies or presidential speeches, I feel as though we got a true glimpse of the man.

I went to Trumps wedding to Marla Maples in the 90’s. He hired my dad to do some legal work for him in Alabama & Mississippi and has a result ended up at the Plaza Hotel for his nuptials. I was just a longhaired college student, had never met him, so I waited in a line of hundreds to congratulate him after the ceremony. The second I opened my mouth and he heard my southern accent, he knew exactly who I was and thanked me & my dad for coming and praised my dad for the work he had been doing for him down south. I was stunned! The event was as diverse as you could imagine, and everyone spoke of him glowingly. The man you see today is the same one I met back in the mid 90’s. I’ve managed to have seen him a few times since 2015 and was there in NYC on election night & his inauguration. When most people think of Americans they're usually thinking of New Yorkers. When Sasha Baron Cohen played Borat he went to New York and boarded a subway train acting a goof. He quickly found out how blunt and aggressive NYers can be. One guy told him to mind his own fucking business. Another got up and was about to break his jaw. Rap music was invented in New York. They're not nice. Take Robert DeNiro movies, 2pac albums, Judge Judy or in this case Donald Trump. Check out some heated Michael Savage debates. Another New Yorker. They're the toughest of all Americans, and the coldest.

I like Petersen, however the POTUS is the ARTICLE II Executive Officer in the US Constitution. His primary duty is to execute the laws of the Article I Legislature. His secondary duty is Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces. His tertiary duty is as President, who represents the country in interchanges with foreign countries.🤷‍♂️

@@johnwilson8482 Mike Pence did the expected but COWARDLY thing, which allowed for Biden to assume the Presidency when there were still MANY questions about who the legitimate winner was. Democracy (technically a republic) requires fair and transparent elections where rule of law is followed. That flat out did not happen in 2020 in many key states, no matter how often the uniparty politicians and broken system of media claim it did. Oh, and you might want to do some self-reflection before calling others stupid.

@@neatoketo6238 No, there are NO questions about the 2020 election: - Over 60 courts, many presided over by Trump appointed judges, found NO EVIDENCE of widespread fraud. - The private company Trump himself hired to investigate the election found NO EVIDENCE of widespread fraud. - The January 6 Commission, which interviewed Trump staff and family, found NO EVIDENCE of widespread fraud. Please note the emphasis on REPUBLICAN sources listed above - not Democrats, Republican sources. Only GULLIBLE PEOPLE believe the 2020 election was widely problematic. Was there some fraud? I think because we severed our ties completely with Britain the early Americans, mostly from British ancestry, still liked the idea of a head of state. Canada has maintained a connection with the British Empire much longer than The US. I think we Americans like the human aspect of our leaders being like us with families and personal lives. But at the same time the presidents serve a very practical role as an executive and manager of the country. So caring about the first lady and the presidents' family is a very humanizing aspect of a practical role. And first lady plays a role in diplomacy and hospitality toward leaders from other countries. The first family is the human face of an often quite complex nation. It is quite democratic actually.

modern conservatives remain like the comitatus who pledged to serve and plunder, rob, rape, torch, loot, kill and lie for the big man to the death. in early times they begged to be buried with the leader and committed suicide to do so. Comitatus was rewarded with a huge share of the loot that the bandit state seized as it plundered the earth. Like today's thugs they wore the finest silk, had the most gold and bought the best women. Modern conservatives are a historic mix of national socialism, inquisitionists, autocrats, rebels and insurrectionists posing as freedom fighters
