You know whats super weird, I've gotten to meet a few of my idols (cuz im literally the luckiest person alive) and I actually met Dodie out of an awful situation. I have a lot of health issues and at her Belfast concert recently I had seizures in the middle of her show. (they are so not subtle I black out I scream I kick I bite etc) and they obviously took me to a nurse in the building and I missed the second half of the concert and so did my awesome best friend who I'd brought to the concert on her birthday. Thinking I had ruined her night and my own with my stupid illness...........dODIE herself called me and my friend to the green room to meet her. Now in the past when I'd met people- I had been so freaked out and excited because I had paid to meet them and knew I was going to... BUT NOT THIS TIME Me and my friend met her........I was still very weak and tired but I did not care at all and went down there and said hello. I think the crazy part was she was so human, idk i cant explain it. I could tell she was tired too but she was so nice, she noticed id had her name drawn on my cheek (i tried to recreate her album art) but dodie pointed out it was backwards (id done it in a mirror) which EMBARASSED ME SO BAD But then we talked about makeup and drag and she told me how her sister watches drag race and she wants to try it and it was the most human moment ever. And finally when dodie first saw us her first question was 'who was poorly?' and there was something so kind and pure about the word poorly I forgot for a moment everything negative in my head. She unintentionally gave me my new philosophy. Whenever I seizure or have panic attacks etc......I remind myself I am not 'sick' or 'broken' or 'a waste/mess' I am simply POORLY and how do I know that? Because a human being I love told me so....

I was born with a condition called anosmia which means that I don't have the ability to smell (never have, apparently never will). I have absolutely no understanding of the concept of smelling and it took me YEARS to find out that the smell from taking a dump STAYS AFTER YOU FLUSH. I don't understand when to use the spray bottle things in bathrooms and how much to use, but honestly this product would save me so much anxiety and insecurity when going over to someone's house and taking a dump because I have no idea what a foul scent is, and apparently I'm leaving one behind?? Thank you for opening my eyes to a better way of avoiding utter panic after I poop

this June I went to a concert for dodie and tessa violet in LA. i cried the entire time, and by the end of the show they pulled me (and a few others) up on stage with them. I tried to say everything I’d always wanted to say, and by the end of it I was able to thank tessa, sing and dance along with both of them, and then hug both of them. it was magical, and genuinely changed my life. once it was all over, I was bouncing around screaming “what?? oh my god.” for half an hour, and by the time I got in the car I was crying. that was the best day of my life.

i find the relationship between idol and fan really interesting because no matter how normal you decide your idol is, often celebrities don't ~act~ normal. they maintain this highly professional and friendly, yet distinctly distant way of speaking to people, and i feel like a lot of the time it can really put you off seeing them as a normal person. it almost forces the fan to act a certain way, to treat their idol as though they are worthy of this facade that they have adopted, and it can make it really difficult to engage in an interaction that is more than a one sided gush of feelings. and i understand that celebrities probably do this so they don't emotionally exhaust themselves because they are meeting so many people constantly. but i also don't blame people for ultimately treating celebrities like they are just that- celebrities, because that is what the situation asks for a lot of the time.

I met you, Jack and then Dan a few months ago in Lincoln, the first time was on my way to a night out horrendously drunk and then the next day when I was horrendously hungover. I'll be honest the memories of the drunk one are a little bit vague but thankfully you caught me up on how messy I was when I saw you the next day haha. I'm a huge fan of your videos so to just bump into you all on the street was amazing and just get to have a nice chat rather than like a quick interaction at a meet and greet was priceless. At the time it was a pretty rough month regarding exam stress on top of personal issues so it really meant so so much that whenever I felt down I could just think 'oh but remember that time when you were walking back from tesco trying not to throw up and Hazel and Jack recognized you as that super drunk girl.. yeah that was awesome'. It was just an amazing experience for me and hopefully I'll get to see you again some day :)

Seriously when I met dodie it was kinda fast (which is entirely understandable there were like 200 + people that wanted to meet everyone in 30 minutes) my friend and I hugged Tessa and dodie and Jon and Rusty and Jesse and Dante and took a picture all so fast and somehow I managed to tell dodie and Tessa how much their content helped me and meant to me and how thankful I am for them and how I’ve met friends through them and how they inspire me to make music every day. I have no clue how I managed to do that but I remember dodie was so precious and understanding. She hugged me and said that it means a lot to her that I support her and hugged me again and smiled so big. I miss it. (October 30th 2016 nashville Halloween show)

I was trying SO hard to not fangirl knowing damn well she’s just a girl living in a flat in London that makes awesome music but man did my heart skip a beat when I saw her. I was able to make some small casual convo but I wish would’ve said more lol

I remember meeting Dodie in 2015- I didn't know what to say and just yelled "I have a letter" and then my eyes started to mist- I still have my tearful photo with her - my lip is bleeding and my eyes are red. I think now I'm a bit older I could approach it differently, but I don't cringe when I think of how I reacted- it was a hard year and her videos had been such a tool for me to cope with my anxiety, and it meant so much to meet her. So yeah, I totally agree, often fan reactions are due to the effect that person has had on the fan and the fan's emotions moreso than glorification.

I'd love to meet Kate Mulgrew too, I know dodie talked about meeting her once and I'm so jealous, I'd love to tell her how important Captain Janeway is to me and how much her potrayal of her inspires me in my life.
