The first hour or so, where it's like a corporate conspiracy thriller is very nearly insufferable, but once Jason Statham is on a jet ski throwing explosive harpoons at giant sharks and there's a giant octopus attacking people at a posh resort, it really caught my attention and delivered the kind of stupendous silliness I expect from a movie like this. Really, it needed to be much more violent, more like Piranha 3D. And was it just me or did the Megs actually just look no bigger than normal great whites?

I remember Deep Rising (1996). Just when it looked like survivors had escaped to safety, turned out they’d ended up on an island of monsters and death was imminent. Sad to hear it is not.

I read the books these were based on as a kid. They were pretty cheesy but had a lot more potential than these two meg movies. The characters were all completely different and the plot was too. The shark attacks were side events just to show the consequences of the creatures getting out again and the oceanic research could also be thrilling when characters come into contact with the shark. I am glad that this one obviously didn't take itself seriously. I took my 9 year old daughter and she had a blast, it was fun for her and she got a few moments where she was tense but not scary or gory. I di like real terror and blood in shark movies but, if you go into these 2 movies with the right mindset, like the fast and thr furious movies, they are pretty fun! I was very entertained even if the first hour ish was way too long. It's a fun theater movie but make sure you turn your brain mostly off! Isn't that what we want anyway sometimes?

*The Last Jedi* is a shitty movie - but still easily the best of the sequel trilogy - it didn’t play it safe like the other two 🤷🏾♂️ I’d rather something elicit an emotion from me - good or bad - than leave me saying “meh it was alright”

I remember back in 05 I think? When rumors started surfacing that there were talks about adapting The Meg book series into movies, I was so hyped... Now that 2 of those came out i'm grateful... For Godzilla Final Wars, the first Pacific Rim(lets not acknowledge the sequel, please), Monsterverse, Shin Godzilla and hopefully the upcoming Godzilla Minus One will be fantastic as well(due to the fact that Shin Godzilla managed to become my favorite Godzilla movie ever, yeah, even surpassing the 54 original, on the account of its extremely serious tone and moral questions, and Godzilla Minus One taking place in 1945 Japan, it has potential to be just as good... also from the very little we were able to see, G-Man's design will resemble a lot his Heisei one, which is my favorite), don't take me the wrong way, I don't watch monster movies trying to be a pretentious d-bag in search of a deeper meaning(except for some Godzilla movies like the original, Shin, hopefully Minus One), I just wanna see 3 things, they don't need to be all together in the same movie for it to be entertaining to me: 1 - Monsters wrecking shit, 2 - Monsters beating the shit out of each other and 3 - Monsters vs giant Mechas beating the shit out of each other, i'm a simple man who knows when to turn off his brain to have simple, pure fun and joy watching certain movies, and I trust your review Jeremy, but I feel I gotta watch this movie even tho it has 99% chance i'm gonna dislike it, I don't like to leave things unfinished, with that said, that doesn't mean i'll pay to watch it if you catch my drift haha, if a miracle happens and I end up liking it, i'll watch it on theaters twice for redemption, always did that(i'm weird with certain things, I know) Edit: Sooooooo.... I've watched it. For free. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand my final verdict about this movie is: Even having watched it for free, I still want a refund, $1000 for every freaking minute of my life lost while watching it, directly from the pockets of the people who wrote it(woah, "hot" take), and from the imbeciles who greenlit it. Time to cancel all my streaming services subscriptions I suppose(except for amazon prime, I hoard the free games from prime gaming, I don't play 99,9% of them, don't even install them, but I like having them, specially the classic early-to-mid 90s arcades haha)

I personally liked the movie. It was entertaining and I enjoyed every scene with the Megs and the other creatures. I loved seeing the T-Rex get ate by the Meg. Seeing the Kraken and the Meg fight was also amazing. This movie had great action scenes if anything, I still enjoyed it. Better than Barbie and Oppenheimer. I guess I’m just a sucker for Megs.

Our family loved it! We’re the target demographic and it scored high. About time there was a fun summer movie. Wasn’t flat at all, jumps scares, cheesy and doesn’t take it self seriously- who could ask for more?
@jordibarguno11 ай бұрын
I think there is a massive misconception about ratings. Now with global box office numbers having a much bigger impact, I think having a movie rated R is not really that big of a deal. In my experience the US is one of the few countries that actually enforces the age restrictions. I grew up in multiple countries of Latin America and in Spain, and I had zero idea there was an age restriction system until I moved to the states for the second half of high school. Then all of the sudeen they were asking for ID, jajajajajajaja.

This reminds me of The Hulk. The movie was soooo slow that my kids kept asking, “Did he Hulk yet?” The kids wandered off but kept yelling. “Is he’s gonna Hulk?” Sounds a lot like Meg

I remember the first Alien film, while phenomenal and a tad overshadowed by it’s own sequel, I just found a bit comical cuz they clearly didn’t have the tech at the time to make the xenomorph actually scary to me. Like I just kinda giggled when it attacked the dude in the air ducts and it’s literally doing jazz hands when he shines his light on it

You nailed it! If I hadn't seen this movie in 4D & 3D, I'd have probably walked out, lol. I was sitting there saying, " This is a Jason Statham Summer action movie!" And HOW many times did they have to save those Fun Island guests from the water?!?! I mean, for 30 minutes, everytime they flashed back to that beach, people were STILL out in the water! Lol! They should have already ran off and been hiding in Walmart or something, lol!
