Seeing some weird comments here regarding the SAG/WGA strike, so gotta say, if you're anti-strike take a couple moments to reconsider your position. You think the workers want to go on strike? Of course not. It's just the only thing that will get the fat cats in power to actually pay attention. You want the strikes to end sooner rather than later? So do the writers and actors. Support the workers who are being horrifically exploited by billionaires who have literally been gleefully talking about trying to just wait the strike out until the writers and actors who make all of the entertainment we all enjoy every day are homeless and starving in the streets. Support workers, they are the ones who keep the world going 'round, not the rich bosses.
@Tymbus Жыл бұрын
Yep, the gap between rich and poor has widened again in Britain. Working people who we relied on to get through the pandemic now need our support.
@BaithNa Жыл бұрын
I support unions and I support the strike but it doesn't change that fact that it's myopic and not a solution for A.I. and automation. The only real solution is a UBI and universal healthcare because even if the billionaires give the actors more scraps, the rest of us wage slaves will lose our jobs to automation within the next decade. Myopic is the perfect word to describe the strikes. They should be using their social clout to influence real change for everyone instead of begging billionaires for more money and hurting the entire movie industry and all adjacent industries.

In regards to people who feel like they have to be angry all the time to keep KZbin views, I have to give a shout out to movie reviewer Jeremy Jahns. His first big video was him talking about how awful Transformers 2 was and his early reviews literally had the word "rant" in them. But as early as 2010, maybe even earlier, he made the choice to stop playing the angry fanboy role since it was not only exhausting, and made his friends dislike him, but he wanted to see good movies too. I respected him for that back then and its only become more commendable when you look at the current landscape of film "criticism".

Secret Invasion imo failed bc it failed to deliver the premise it promised to deliver: A shapeshifting invasion filled with paranoia ala Invasion of the Body Snatchers and a spy espionage ala The Winter Soldier, which unironically did Secret Invasion better. Fury didn't feel like a competent protagonist as he was mostly getting pushed around rather than actively moving the plot and despite his accountability to the fault of not helping the skrulls, he never truly faced consequences as he never directly confronted Gravik. Despite losing Talos and Maria Hill, he never seemed to mourn them past the episode he loses them in. Furthermore, the lack of tension and paranoia in a shapeshifting show especially as everyone is shown as who is who and rarely is there enough blanks for the audience to fill in. The worst offender of this is the Rhodey and Fury trying to convince the president who the skrull is when they make it clear who it is earlier in the series, which lacks the tension for the audience it could've had. Compare this to Winter Soldier where Captain America is in the dark for most of the movie, truly not knowing who to trust or what is fully going on until most of the actions is already taken which is something Secret Invasion fails to replicate. Not only did it fail as a spiritual sequel to Winter Soldier but it failed to deliver an engaging execution of ideas. It didn't have to involve the Avengers although it definitely would've been a plus if it was an Avengers film or an entire phase, but the fact that it couldn't deliver on the idea that it delivered for its smaller scale story is where I feel most of the disappointment comes from.
