Got to commend yall for having enough sense to skip the weigh in. When it comes to major events theres still far to many people needlessly bogging down the weigh in process with minimal weights which is hazardous for every fish involved. They do it for show and tell purposes I suppose and its damn frustrating to see. In fact I argue that the major events should establish a minimum "qualifying" weight to even be permitted to weigh in. The specified weight could easily be established by reviewing prior event stats on the given weight.

Thanks bud! I agree! I’ve traveled up from Florida the last 6-7 years fishing events on the Mississippi. I love the fishery and o know what it takes to be competitive. I want to make my sponsors proud just like the next guy BUT I know when Ive been licked! We had a 40th place bag roughly. The responsible thing to do was just what we did. I like the idea you presented too. These lines are long and if you don’t at least have a chance there’s no point in adding stress to those fish.

Gotta be careful about that. I understand and respect what you’re saying and that is a good outlook for conservation but 2 years ago at a large regional event the fishing was poor. In a location it normally takes 100lbs to win, first place was in the low 30’s. The team that would have had 2nd place threw their fish back because they didn’t think it was worth weighing in. That was a $4,000 mistake.

We actually watch the live stream of the first 8 boats weighing in on the way bad. The lowest bag out of those were 84 lbs. But I definitely try to make sure I don’t have a chance before I bypass the weigh in!
