It was possible. Even if it's difficulty can be consideer as "Extreme", it should be more like "Hardest" since "Bart vs the space mutants" was actually "Extreme" difficulty.

I was very young when my dad died in January of 1995. For some reason one of the only memories I have of him where I can really picture with everything was like and what he sounded like was one day he came home from work with this game that he had rented. He had it behind his back and he pulled it out and he was like we got virtual bart! I think about my dad everyday and for some reason of him saying virtual bar every single day too haha. It stinks because I ended up being just like my dad and a lot of ways in liking the same things he did and he never gets to know

what i remember from this game as a kid... getting stuck/lost in the freezer part of the pig level the squirrels ruining my day in the motorcycle level sometimes getting to the egg throwing part of the school photo level every damn time... taking a wrong turn in the water park and falling to my death. (still don't know the strategy for it...) failing to get by the seals with the balls on their nose as baby bart and the dinosaur level... i would always get so close but die somewhere in the icy part of the level. virtual bart was the most frustrating thing for 8 year old me.

The trick for the waterslide makes no sense whatsoever. Before the path splits, you can see a bald man (i think is Willie) Check out his swimsuit. If he has lines on the right side, turn right. If he has lines on the left side, turn left. Isn't it obvious?? /s This game is cruel.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is one of the reasons why we could not have the Simpsons arcade game on the 16 bit consoles. Because Acclaim owned the rights to The Simpsons on consoles, Konami could not release a port on the SNES or Genesis. One can only imagine we could have gotten a pretty decent port of the game to the SNES, similar to Turtles in Time, if Acclaim did not have the home video game license.

Eep386 Acclaim wasn't half bad imo. They made pretty good ports, like this game and Mortal Kombat as well as other decent licensed games. I wish we could've gotten an arcade port though.

Acclaim, like LJN (whom were part of Acclaim), never made a game at all. They'd license games from small developers and release them under their own label. To me, when Acclaim went belly up, was a good day.

Underrated game. It's another one of those cheap licensed games though, which normally features great gameplay, nice graphics, and unique concepts, but also has pretty brutal and sometimes unfair difficulty. I have an affection for those type of games, nonetheless.

It's funny because the first Simpsons game they released on the Snes/Genesis was Bart's Nightmare and the reason it sold really well was simply because the Simpsons were massive at that point and everyone wanted to own a Simpsons video game. So based off those really good sales, Acclaim naturally assumed that another Simpsons game would be marketable - they didn't realize that nobody really enjoyed Bart's Nightmare so they definitely weren't going to invest any money in Virtual Bart. lol

In the tomato class picture scene, you can go right or left in your aim with tomatoes too... and if skinner wiggles his butt you can hit him and not get in trouble if i remember correctly.... The trick to the waterslide scene was following willy at the intersection but i could never get to the end of any scene except maybe the tomato one

In the SNES version, the little Blinky that marks your progress at the top has a little coloured arrow that appears very briefly before the turn. Hard to keep an eye on him though. Not sure about this version

Nice play-through.I'm not sure if you are aware, but during the tomato/egg throwing levels you can hold left and right, and throw them at an angle. It is risky, but possible. Also you CAN hit skinner, but only when he is bent over.

man I just remember how frigging HARD this game was.I remember failing the mad max game resulted you getting your arms yanked/stretched by being tied to two of the opposing road buggies. I also know that Dino Bart ended with a paleontologist finding your bones, and the water slide ending with bart zipping out and hitting a brick wall. I don't think i successfully beat any of them. Especially not dino bart since I couldn't tell how to beat Mr. Smithers and Mr. Burns.

This game had some really dark deaths in it! The pig death is probably the most dreadful to me, cause when you fail, your processed into a corndog, get shipped in a box with other corndogs, Homer gets the box, eats the dogs till he eventually finds you, stares at you, then....eats you and continue eating the rest of the dogs(as if you don't matter)! Deaths in games were so brutal back then(and most of them didn't involve blood either), guess that's what made them memorable, though!

Don't forget that goddamn life bar. As you can see, as Bart takes damage, his face get progressively sicker and damaged until he's completely skeletonized, all with a look of horrified pain on his face. Yeah, that's a really nice thing to show your audience game! It's not enough that you're an damn near unplayable mess as it is, then you have to go and scar them for life with shit like this!

A time when Bart was the star of the show back then, anyways the ending was kind of interesting in that Homer was using the VR machine at the end, probably would probably be better. Then again Homer wasn't a yet until somewhere in late 90's or early 2000.

+hanchiman The main charecter of the show was always supposed to be Homer, just popularity wise bart stole the show in the early 90s. Also if you compare an early season to a later season you will realize that the mix of homer centric and bart/the kids centric episodes has been pretty much the same over the years.

Kristina I only watched Simpsons pretty late in the late 90's and early 2000 (well thanks to Student Poverty in which Friday Night was just at home watching Simpsons new seasons). I thought reason why Homer got more attention or at least we noticed about Homer antics was because the audience "grew up". In the early 90's we notice more about Bart shenanigans and his then "90's coolness", however by the time we are in early 2000, most of us "kids" are growing up and face reality and become aware of dead-end jobs with mean cruel boss, tax, idiots and social commentary. I mean I was watching those really old episode, and nowadays I notice alot of innuendo jokes in there that I didn't notice back then. Like Bart mentioning that there is a "Chewing gum machine" in their washroom when Moe had to move his Moe Tavern in the Simpson resident. XD

I played only nes at the time. I think it was 25 years ago. Never had money for snes. I saw this game in the game shop when some kid tried it in the shop. I thought this game was so advanced. You know on the tomato level, you can throw on an angle, you don't have to only throw straight. You could've gotten Skinner when he was bending over (you lose if you hit him while he's standing and can see you, but you can nail him right on the butt when he bends over to get his shoe laces)

I like this game and Bart's Nightmare. They're probably on the better side of "The Simpsons" games from the older consoles... But the controls still feel very stiff, making it a lot less enjoyable =S ... Also, that glitchiness on baby Bart's minigame... "Sega does what Nintedon't" indeed XD

This game played better on the Genesis than it did on the SNES, sounded better too. I think it was easier as well as the SNES version had a different apocalypse level where Jimbo and Kerny attacked you constantly. At this in the Genesis version you got a breather in between their attacks. The Genesis version was superior in many ways.

Well I have to say, this version is more playable then the snes. Sound wise no snes wins on that but playable? Yes seem like some of the mini games on here are slower then the snes. The baby mini is for one is much slower letting you think on the clothes line. While the snes it auto scroll on ya. And the death race part there wasn't a single one hit death right there. And the dino mini game it's much more forgiven with corn dogs and slower enemies. So this version wins.

NES has 3 Simpsons titles, and I believe Krusty's Super Funhouse, Genesis has Bart Vs the Space Mutants (yes a port of the NES game), the Krusty game, SNES has 2 Simpson's games, the Krusty game, and an Itchy and Scratchy game. There's also 2 Simpson's Gameboy games.

The Jetson's game for NES is expensive for the sake of being expensive. People like to throw the word rare around, uncommon is more fitting for a game like that. Greedy people have hit the collecting market, and they are looking to score big bucks.

This comment is old. It grew onto me a little bit. There's only 1 or 2 bad instruments used in the soundtrack, but overall, it's pretty solid, though not on the same league as the SNES version. Plus, it sounds better on a Model 1 Genesis.
