The way I fix broken Megatrons is similar. Except in reverse. I drill a hole completely through the stud and gray plastic part. I then use a nail cut to length and come from the Bottom up. That way it doesnt interfere with the trigger. I then use a push washer on the top. Its pretty much a permanent fix that never loosens up.

I remember getting Megatron G1 for Christmas and my younger brother getting Optimus Prime. The gun mode was awesome but we don't talk about the trigger position in robot mode lol. I know I've said this before but being born deaf I do really appreciate the subtitles. Your videos are easy to follow and are genuinely a pleasure to watch.

Hey Dave Great fixes. I like the new music line up for TP2. Take care😊

I had both of these. Loved them.

Me too, nowadays Megatron would probably have to have a great big orange safety bit to differentiate it from a real weapon lol!!

Have to say. Amazing Fix on the Legs there. Just sellotape. Brilliant. It really is an issue with the G1 Megatrons.

This turned out great Dave, considering what a sorry state he started in. That arm and the home made washer were ingenious fixes. I definitely reckon you should paint his face though, just to try and get him a little more pristine looking. Would be very interested to see you having a go at a DIY version of his Fusion Cannon/Gun sight. My childhood Megatron ended up in a worse state than this, but I still had the box, so you piece him back together and he looked displayable in gun mode. Another kid at my school was happy to do a swap with me for my broken Megatron for his pristine Buzzsaw (with weapons), which my secondhand Soundwave was missing.

Excellent work! In the Japanese domestic market, the trigger actually has a function to fire pellets. That's what the oval hole on the top is for, to insert the plastic pellet. The International release had two more parts, one plastic and one spring, that resided inside that hollow void which worked with the trigger. If you ever get a hold of an original Japanese market one, or the reissue, you would find them. Someone in Canada in the early 2000's did resin replicas of the part and sold it online, but sadly he has since passed away. I'm surprised no one else has replicated the part since

I had a go at modeling one, albeit without having the correct part to hand, just working from bad photos and guesswork. It sorta worked on my FR megatron. I could upload it to thingiverse I suppose. Would be great if someone with a JP Megatron could upload some crisp photos!

As a Robot he looks better posed without the Barrel. Nice fix indeed, he was destined for the bin but not in your hands.

If you end up fabricating or using 3d printed parts for these, you may want to consider leaving them the wrong colour, as that would make them stand out more for the logo purposes. White styrene would match the Ultramagnus parts as well. For more complex sculpted parts that are difficult to fabricate like hands, you may want to try simple Oyumaru/BlueStuff molds to replicate them in epoxy putty with inserted styrene pegs. That's probably a lot more interesting than loose or 3d printed parts, and seems to fit in more with your style.

You’re making a mascot and inadvertently giving all the worst parts of Megatron the fixes they need. I had to source an arm from Australia to Canada to fix mine! Brilliant!
@matterstoyou2970Ай бұрын
It would be fitting for mega gone to have a custom gun/arm since the figure already has a “toy polloi 2 custom look” w/o the painted face and whatnot.

You got lucky! That plastic that they used for the trigger area and what goes around the head gets extremely brittle. I had one that every time I made a fix, it would break somewhere else. It suffers from that "Gold Plastic Syndrome", and would break wherever you could see a swirl on it.

Great video as always! I actually knocked mine over the other day the scope shattered into a million pieces. I ended up ordering a repro one cuz I’m not willing to pay those crazy prices . Kind of a rubbish toy but the gun mode is iconic

I wish I had this video in 1986 when I snapped Megatron's arm off straight out the box on Christmas Day. The shop were out of stock when my parents took him back so they swapped him for a Gobot Command Centre 😢

The arms are particularly weak on this figure. The command centre is pretty cool, but it's not Megatron!

I can't imagine it would be very difficult for you to make a gun sight that would be passable. The official one is far too big for the robot mode and looks rather silly. I be you could fashion something from black plastic rigid tubing. Maybe something that comes at the center of a roll of plastic bags. I know the poop bags I buy for my dog have small black plastic tubes that might work quite well for this purpose.
