Man, Mega Man X5 may actually be my favorite Mega Man X soundtrack. I like this game a LOT more than most people do, even if mashing through. I feel like this game is like... a couple of minor romhack patches away from being just as brilliant as Mega Man X4.

X5 had a lot of ambition, but it shit the bed on a bunch of stuff. Most levels boil down to “ride this slow platform for 60% of the stage” and then deal with a weird gimmick. X4 was lightning in a bottle in how great it is.

@@TheLegendofRenegade King Meteor got accused of plagiarism IIRC since a lot of his MIDIs very clearly took the notes from a lot of other existing MIDIs (especially Teck's from what I could tell; maybe some others but Teck's MIDIs are the most obvious for me), and thus a lot of his MIDIs were taken down because of it, with the ones that were accepted by VGMusic before this still being in the site... and that's basically the reason lol

You could've used the slap bass from thunder force 4 or went with a typical slap bass style patch. Also, some those time trax guitar notes didn't need the picking articulation caused by one of the operators. Savaged regime made a separate lead guitar patch that was used for sustained notes that didn't need to be palm muted. The goal was to make the FM sound design sound closer to the original or equivalent to a live performance
