Haha! I was just about to make this same comment when I saw it at the top. The limited number of resources is part of the game balance. If players would give up on "house rules" and "extra hotels," they will naturally get knocked out and the game will end. 😊

When the bank runs out of houses/hotels, you don't make new ones. The rules specifically state that the maximum amount of houses/hotels can not be increased.

Use the rules with the game. Not house rules. If you use actual rules, should take no more then 1.5 hours.

people like to play with their house rules, some people don't like some specific rules, so they change them (but i recommend real rules, since making up rules might cause a "game-stop" at one point.

Just wanted to add the reason there is not enough houses is because that is part of the official rules. In the UK i've played many 'house rule' variants of monopoly but in the official rules of the game it's a strategy to buy up the houses to prevent other players getting them until your rich enough to upgrade your stuff and return some to the bank, the final building of any type is meant to be auctioned if multiple players want to buy them at the same time. (I'm in in no way saying you cannot play the way you like I know many of my friends have their own rules they like to play simply because they like it or its nicer)

Being in the USA it’s always cool to see the UK version of Monopoly with all the properties being different. I figured they’d have called it the Gas Works but maybe that term isn’t used anymore. Great unboxing here.

The limited amount of houses and hotels is by design. When they run out, it causes a housing shortage, and when supply is limited, players then have to outbid each other for the house.

When buying Skyscrapers do you add 1 hotel + cost of 1 house on top of the hotel already existing? Or do you simply pay the cost of 1 house to build a Skyscraper?

rules say, you get to the hotel, then the cost of a house to get a skyscraper. I think it should be more, but like always, all game can be played your own ways.

Honestly I feel like this could’ve been better if they just added a new property color instead of just increasing the number of properties for the old ones, it kinda just draws out the game.

Maybe, but then each side has to have three color groups instead of two. Having additional property for each group keeps the game more balanced.

@@NIKOLAP7 Yeah I see your point, probably my biggest issue with this edition is that by having an extra property per color it makes it a lot more difficult to get a set, and because now each set has more value to it people are less likely to let you even get a set in the first place. I still enjoy the game and don’t regret buying it, just a critic. Tbh I don’t think I ever really play Monopoly because “Oh wow it’s so great” more over the fun that comes out of it, it’s an unbalanced game in general but that’s what makes it fun, especially with friends.

@@juicedbeetlejuice4572 Monopoly is about having fun with your friends and family, but also how to think through when making deals. If you make good investments and good deals, you will win the game. The red and the yellow color group are the most desired because there is a bit of a higher probability to land on them.

Bus tickets cannot be reused once they are returned to the bank.
