I was suckered into getting a glo-betta too. She’s such a little firecracker, and I love her to bits. The only good thing I see coming from their “creation”, is that they’re marketed as needed 3 gallons, whereas the other bettas are marketed as only needing .5 gallons. Hopefully big box stores start heading in the right direction with proper betta care!

I work at a Canadian PetSmart and I never sell a betta fish to a customer unless it’s in a 3-5 gallon heated set up. I let them know why they need to do this and the proper nutrition they need. It’s important to let them know information like this, and 9 times out of 10 they’re happy that I explained why. Same goes for all of the animals we have. We are allowed to refuse customers if their set up is bad for fish or animals. Like putting a comet goldfish in a 3 gallon tank. It’s fun for the kids, but a terrible environment for the fish.

My daughter insisted on a Glo Betta and he’s really fun! I didn’t realize he was a baby until he suddenly hulked out after we had him for about five months. I’m glad, because I know we’ll have him for a nice, long time. 😊

I love your honesty.. you're always honest with us I hope you don't get any hate for getting those wild caught fish because.. if they were caught out of the wild and shouldn't have been what better person to have them and help not only that particular pair of fish but the whole hobby benefit from that unfortunate situation.. it's not like they can be re-released into the wild after their taken from it but I've heard you talk about the importance of leaving wild fish in the wild and breeding those fish as fish keepers and I know all of your followers know where your heart's at on that! I started keeping fish to help with my PTSD... Helps better than the other things I've tried to help cope.. I've been tattooing for 13 years since I got back from Iraq and I look more like a sons of anarchy than a fish keeper... But your channel is my favorite and it always puts a smile on my face with the positivity and honesty you show up the ups and downs of the fish keeping hobby.... Watch me avoid them so I can keep it all 100% positive and I am so appreciate that really happy for you and your family and just keep being yourself and doing what you're doing.. please :-)

There is a whole debate on wild caught vs tank raised and if collecting wild fish is actually bad, I'm not sure what to think anymore! I do believe that endangered species should be able to be preserved by experienced fishkeepers, but those species should also be left alone and their dwindling habitats be protected too

Every pet store ive seen here in australia (at least in the past few years) have really good betta set ups small jars but water drips into them, they have heater mats under and sometimes they have little plants. And half of them still look super sick and stressed

Great video! I love to see your vlogs with your day to day things! I just combined 4 tanks into one big 40 to save me from doing 4 smaller individual tanks. QUESTION! Has anyone recommended restaurant containers for you? Google the clear polycarbonate food pan! They come on a variety of sizes and styles and I think the clear ones would be best for you and the best thing is you can also get lids for them and THEY STACK! I come from a family that owned a restaurant for a long time so to me it probably seems like maybe something like these would do you some good! They can withstand cold and heat And the best part is they’re easy to buy in bulk for as little as $3 a container! I hope you see this comment! And I hope you have a great day!

Hi Taylor Please don't knock the little Glo Betta. He doesn't glow in the dark. He just shows up under blue lights like a lot of salt water critters. All he has is an extra gene. I have a Glo tank. I have Glo Tetra fish in it. I also have Cardinal, Blue & Red and Neon Tetras, Albino Corydoras, and Otocinclus. I have live plants in it and some Glo decor. I'd love to have a Glo Betta which hopefully could live in it too. I do not have a TV in the living room so my blue lit Glo tank is the focal point of evening relaxation. We love it. I also have 8 other tanks. All natural. All planted. I just sold 5 male guppies to a new hobbiest. He showed me a picture of his set up. It was a Glo tank. He never even thought about putting a blue light and a Glo fish in. He just liked the colours. BTW we checked, the male guppies look great under a blue light if he wanted to go that route. So Glo colours = new hobbiest. If they watch a vlog with their favourite FishTuber calling them out for keeping "abominations" I think a FishTuber will discredit themselves and lose the viewer. How about trying to help a new hobbiest set up a tank that will be the best of both worlds, a healthy environment for their fish and a nice looking tank that looks great under blue light?

This little guy is getting his own custom tank as soon as I can squeeze out some free time to make a really cool one that would make a glo fish look nice. “Freak of nature” is his name because that’s my sense of humor, hah! Just a heads up ... smaragdina are the most amazing jumpers I’ve ever seen. Don’t leave any space they can jump through. I had about 6-7 gallons in a 10 gal tank along with a lid and the feeding hole was covered. The one tiny sliver in between the filter and lid ... was a mistake. I had a pair, the first female jumped out and that’s when I lowered the water level and covered the feeding hole. Two months went by, everything was fine and then one morning I woke up and the male was laying on the bottom super stressed (from the female) and then when I tried to quarantine him he died. The next night that female jumped out the tiny sliver. I’ve gave up wilds last year after it happened and I’m not sure if I’ll ever get more.

I can not believe you found another pair of channoides 🙂 your so lucky.. Mine spawned twice 6 the first time then 16 the second time and the my female disappeared.. I have no idea where she went. I have a lid on the tank. They are in a 4 foot tank which was divided and one day I just couldn’t find her so I put the male on her side knowing she would come out for him but nothing. So I guess she died?? But we never found her and I spend hours on that tank every day. I’ve been looking for a new pair for a new bloodline but so far no luck 😔. I just love watching them they are so Placid and have such cute personalities.
