I had a 6000Z as my first mid wheel drive chair. It was the chair that taught me how important having a spare chair is. I had to replace several motors, and rebuild the actuator, but the biggest problem was it had cable connectors that would overheat, get brittle and break. Also, even with the strange covers on the caster wheels, I had to replace the bearings every time I replaced the tires, because hair and fibers would wrap around the axels, and destroy the bearing seals. When it ran, it was fast and fun. I replaced it with a Permobil M300, which is now my backup chair after 6 years, and my main ride is a M5. Thanks for the cruise down memory lane on the 6000Z. Be safe.

Hey I Found A Quantom Powerchair At My Thriftstore. & I Checked Out Everything On It. It Has Electric Recline & Electric Leg Lift. I Might Go Get It To Use It For A Spear Chair Icase Mine Was To Be On The Charger Or Out Of Order For Repairs. It's Pretty Monuverable. Some People Have A Second Car Whynot A Second Powerchair.

After my stroke, I got tired of sitting on the side of the bed all day because I could not roll my wheelchair on the carpet. I didn't have the strength. I started looking for a power chair that was cheap and I could àfford. I found really old ones and 3 wheeled scooters, I posted on my community FB page ànd got Several replies,. This guy replied that had a quàntum edge àt the right price.. He even brought it to me. His mom had it and passed away 2 years ago. I am cleàning it up now. I found your video's and after seeing this one, I see a bunch of things that are the same on mine.. I enjoy your video's and have learned a lot.. Now I will be able to get across the gravel to my garage to work on projects. I have ordered some LED lights I will wire in series for 24 volts so I can see how to get back to the house after dark.

that 6000Z inspired me to build my Q6 Edge Z The way it is today. The clip where you are trying the chair out gets me every time because that's how my chair feels.

Great video Dan as always , still trying to convert my jazzy 600 to off road but I can't find any hubs so it has not worked out so far but I also been working on my Ram Van to accommodate me driving so that has taken up my time anyway stay safe out there my friend.

i just got 4 pieces of 3/4" wide flat-bar, and laid them across each other so they picked up the orig bolt holes, and the holes for the new wheels - and zipped it together with the welder! ...not DOT approved.. LOL but seems to work!

@@TotallyNormal- Thanks Dan not in a hurry my time has been putting side door actuators fabing links . The van is a cheaply done conversion so not a single working interior light yeah fun with no wiring diagram so going to have to make my own harness we have made a power rail system to move driver eat back about 2 feet so I can transfer so it will be awhile before my maiden drive . Watching your videos give me ideas on my setup hoprfuu;y when it is all done I can take pictures of the final results.

Dan how do you know what parts go with what chairs ? Did this full size FORD van take the place of the 90 's Chrysler van that had the bad steering rack ? Do both the gray & white van run OK ? Is it faster then your C - 500 does it have hi speed motors like my C - 500 has ? I know how good it feels to not have to pay monthly any more for a storage area . Over a decade for me .

Dan I look at the Ada laws and they're pretty straightforward I can understand him who is responsible for enforcing them no-one I guess. A nice apartment complex the interior doors are wide enough the front doors wide enough. But they have no handicap cutouts for the sidewalks without going a quarter-mile to find one and then doubling back. Ada says hit the curves steps or sidewalks under seven and a half inches high believe this place to get to the office there eight eight and a half. The curb cutouts that they do have when it rains there puddles in front of them so you have to go through the water huge great big doors that go into the office they're double doors but no door openers I get so damn frustrated there are several sidewalks around here that go go and go and when you get to the end there's no wheelchair ramp so you either jump the ramp or double back. Some of the sidewalks around the office tennis court pool basketball court they do not have Curb stops in front of the sidewalks so if a car bumps its Wheels into the curb of the sidewalk you cannot get through with your wheelchair because there's not enough room for you to pass through I get so frustrated

thats a nice looking chair. I suppose the Q6E is meant to replace it. Is it considered to be a HD chair? how do the 4 shocks on the Q6000z compare to 3 shocks on the Q6E series? Do 4 shocks ride smoother?

I've been found this channel and it seems pretty easy to work on things. I used to be aircraft mechanic. I do have Quantum 6000z. Is there a caster wheel (taller) you would recommend making it more off road capable?
@TotallyNormal-
@TotallyNormal- 2 жыл бұрын
the 6000z is a very heavy chair.. might not be the best choice for off-road use :^/ it would take some modification to fit larger castor wheels on it - the mounts for them dont have a lot of extra clearance unfortunately..

What’s the best light weight power wheelchairs to buy? Something that can hold more weight I’m sure is the best. I need something that won’t break down and can go in gravel and grass. I kinda like the Fold & Go. That’s the brand name. I told my husband I need one. Because when you can walk a wheelchair is more of a need then a want.
@TotallyNormal-
@TotallyNormal- 4 жыл бұрын
eh.. there arent really any folding chairs that are "good" and can go in the grass etc.. maybe one of the mobility scooters - they have some 'off road' ish versions of those they are halfway decent.. they dont fold up.. BUT they usually breakdown into 3-4 parts with no tools required.. something similar to these... www.spinlife.com/Drive-Medical-Prowler-4-Wheel-Heavy-Duty/High-Weight-Capacity-Scooter/spec.cfm?productID=82453 and this www.mobilityscootersdirect.com/mobility-scooters/off-road-mobility-scooters/drive-medical-panther-heavy-duty-scooter.html

Totally Normal Thank you. I don’t think a scooter will help much . I have spinal stenosis and bulging disks. And scoliosis and tumors in my spine and it would be difficult to steer when my arms hurt. I mostly will be going to Doctor visits. Maybe to the zoo with the grandkids and getting around my house. My husband pushes me in my manual wheelchair. I can get around my house because my arms hurts. I was hoping if something like this would be good. I know would help me get around my home better because it’s not big and bulky kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJfCfnWnd7Wml7s

Totally Normal Here’s the Fold & Go I was looking into This lady did get stuck a little but who would actually go in that kind of road unless she was just demonstrating the chair to see if it really would go in rough roads. Which I would never go anywhere like that. But I thought I would show you. I figured your not to familiar with these kinds of wheelchairs I’m hoping if they did have a problem that they would be easy to fix. kzbin.info/www/bejne/e3K5p6qve5KCqac

I'm commenting on a random video because I watch your videos as they're fed to me by the algorithm sort of as background / relaxing videos. I've watched quite a few of your videos but I don't think I've ever heard you talk about how you got started with repairing and playing with power chairs? Was it out of necessity? Do you have a background in cars or something else? thanks for these videos!

I’m new to using a wheelchair. I have not been able to walk for maybe about three years. I just have a manual one my husband pushes me to the car and my doctor appointments. And to the bathroom so I can get a shower. That’s why I’m looking at power wheelchairs so I can have some independence. So I’m usually at home stuck in bed. That’s why I ask questions on wheelchairs. My husband is good about fixing things his hobby used to be fixing cars and trucks so if I had a problem with a power wheelchair. Hopefully he will be able to fix it.
