I love my windbuster. I dont use it often but I seem to tie into a lot more big fish on it. Got a 4.76lb bass and 27.5" walleye on it a couple days ago, and a 4foot sturgeon up on the rainy this spring, handled all 3 wonderfully.

Wow, so happy I did not see this review before I bought my Windbuster. I had probably not bought it and what a miss that had been. Now I bought it and just love it. I have it together with my Daiwa Luvias Airity 2000. I'm a guy that like small reels and are not into this bigger one you on the other side of the big water always like. I also must say that the grip fit my hands perfect and is absolutely the best grip I ever had. I give it 10 of 10. Thanks anyway for good reviews you always make.

Antar att jag kan skriva på svenska, men vilka tekniker har du testat på windbuster? Är nyfiken på ett exemplar. Men mycket pengar att betala utan kött på benen. Älskar ned Rig och letar primärt efter ett spö för den finesstekniken.

@@Hammarlux I have used it for Carolina, jigg, ned and also with chatter bait. I’m not that sensitive for what I use it with but it is not a weak rod.
@Hammarlux3 жыл бұрын
@@Basstumme I Saw it has moderate action, but is THE top fast with semiparabolic action under load? How about the sensitivity? Can you detect small nibbles on slackline and bottomcontact?

@@Hammarlux Brian does great reviews, but if he doesn't like the grip ITS A DEALBREAKER FOR HIM! Great rod, and yes, it's not a fast action, that's why it's rated and shown as a medium-fast action. That's what put me over the top to acquire it!

Thanks for your comment man. I just did press the order button and then saw this review and thought, dang. I have a number of P5's (TS Destroyers and Orochi-xx's as well) and love em all, so I'm gonna keep my hopes up. I'm a jerkbait nut and want this especially for X-Nanahans and whatnot, Damiki rigs and heavier deep dropshots. When he's saying it's tip heavy, I'm actually kinda glad to hear that... thats one thing I love about the Jerkbait special. It makes working a jerkbait effortless!

Good review. I agree on going with a slightly heavier reel for balance. I run a 2500 Stradic FL on mine and it’s a good feel for me. Also, in regards to the grip, I have smaller hands myself and find the new grips very ergonomic and comfortable all day.

i do agree with it being tip heavy. its working really well with treble hook baits, i found the single hook baits i had to fish it differently than i'm used to. quite sensitive, but the grip is too skinny. the rod has power. had some 4lb+ bass on it as well as few pike in the 6lb range. handles them, but i've seen the most success with moving baits with this rod. i tried free rig with it, but i felt some other rods are better than it. nice review!

Thank you Brian. I have still a love-hate relationship with that rod. Great dragging tubes and finesse jigs but so parabolic it is hard to keep smallmouth pinned to single hook baits. Just having trouble with the overall parabolic action... Weird feeling. Feels powerful yet brittle at the same time.

These reviews are very helpful, Brian. I just got a windbuster. I agree with you that the handle was weird at first, but it really clicked when holding it choked-up with my fingers curved farther around the rod than usual so that my hand is sideways as if it's palming a baitcaster. I think the idea is to have your fingertips on that knurled metal part on the blank. Different, but I like it a lot now.

Oh sweet the balance with that Kage makes me think the Certate 4000 will be perfect. Y’all northern guys like Polish Pete and Feider got me into wanting to try that! I also feel like this and the Landsat would cover every spinning application you need tbh.

Looking to pair my a Wind Buster with a Shimano 3000XG Vanquish 15lbs Yellow High Vis Suffix Braid tied to 20lbs Sunline Fluoro 4ft Leader. Using it for Mid size Musky Pike but also Bass Walleye etc. thoughts? Trying to use as an all around versatile combo.

I don’t have fatigue or cramps holding my Landsat. I’m holding it between my fingers and lock it with my thumb on top. I think if you make a fist then you get ergonomic issues with your hand.

Thanks for the review Brian , I don't think it's tip heavy , I love this rod I have it paired up with a 3000 certate cxh balances perfect ,feels awesome, some one mentioned a 4000 certate , honestly I wouldn't go that route , 4k too big for this , again my opinion , I had the brigand and that was tip heavy , I like the windbuster over the brigand alot! Everything on this rod is perfect for me😎

Seems like all Megabass spinning rod descriptions make some reference to Dark Sleepers, which I'd like to integrate into my fishing. I watched your Dark Sleeper review and know you favor 1/2 oz. size, but seems all Megabass spinning (which I prefer also) top out at 5/8th, which would seem to be possible, but stressed in these 5/8 oz cap recommendation rods. Are you throwing the 1/2 oz sleepers on your Brigand? I'm looking at 7'4 Enforcer but my research leaves me the impression that there is a lack of enthusiasm about that rod? Is there a better spinning rod that can handle that 1/2 oz. sleeper?
@PunchFishing3 жыл бұрын
Enforcer or the brigand can both toss 1/2oz dark sleepers really well!

Have you had a chance to throw Ito Vision 110+2 on the Wind buster? I’ve been looking for a spin rod that’ll throw a Megabass X-80 all the way to a Vision 110+2.
@PunchFishing3 жыл бұрын
I have not, I've thrown the 110 JR's and JR +1's on the wind buster. I assume it could handle the regular 110+2's though. I don't think I even own any 110+2's honestly.

Hey Brian, have you had any issues with cork on the windbuster? I have put u 40 and still had a little detioriating after awhile , is common or do you have any ideas how to car e for the cork ? At this price you would think a more premium cork. Thanks

The price difference between titanium with sic and torzite is not that much I wonder why they didn't just go for them. Also most daiwa reel drag knob doubles as a hook keeper
