Same same, could not believe how hard this was at the time, I always thought this was such a great performance. We use to record videos from headbangers ball and so many movies, and yes for whatever reasons still have almost all of them on vhs tapes….lol

Arsenio did so much for Heavy Metal and Rap.... He had a crazy famous show, and wasn't afraid to give these artists that usually wouldn't have a chance to be on a National TV talkshow an audience. So damn cool.

@@remember_Pat_Tillman People rag on Dave's singing ability, but I think his voice sounds badass. The shrill crazy schizo character he puts on is really creative and matches the lyrics and music well. Plus his ability to write creative lyrics and catchy vocal melodies for well arranged songs makes up for whatever pure singing ability or pleasant-sounding voice he may be lacking.

They had stuff like this on MTV and headbangers ball alot but yea it wasn't super common on late night TV but like I said metal was starting to creep more into the mainstream around this time. I see they did a shorter version of the song for TV lol.

@@m0line Seriously, I am fcukin disappointed from Justice till Hardwired. U need to understand the context here. I grew up listening to Metallica when the first 3 album hit the market. I'm so dam dissapointed with 'black' album compared to the other metal releases in 1990. MEGADETH - Rust in Peace SLAYER - Season of the Abyss ANTHRAX - Persistence of Time SEPULTURA - Arise (1991) Those are 4 metal albums that don't dissapoint. In 1989 we get - SEPULTURA - Beneath the Remains. TESTAMENT - Practice what u Preach. FAITH NO MORE - Real Thing.

Wow! This might just be the best live version of the song I've ever heard. Was a nice touch cutting out the pre-verse appregios; it worked a treat. Furthermore, even Mustaine's vocals sound a lot better than usual.

Saw them at the Diamond Ball Room in OKC, OK. in 1991 I think. The A/C went out, the place was hosing us down with pitchers of beer to keep us cool. That whole song I think I looked up twice, the rest of the time was compelet head banging. Ah, 19 years old. What a time to be alive.

Wow, that's probably the closest to studio sound quality I've ever heard in a Megadeth live performance. It's hard to find performances with this quality in any band, whether it's rock/metal or whatever. Usually live guitar tones seem to sound a little "washed out" and not nearly the same, but here the entire mix of all instruments is tight and amazing.

We have to keep in mind that sometimes the microphone of the recording device gets distorted so it might not be problems with the live performance (necessarily). You are correct in what you said though. This one is crisp in every way in comparison to most.

@@Chimchimchu No I didn't mean anything about performance quality, only that I think that the tone itself typically sounds different in most live situations. Concerts aren't a controlled environment like a studio, and depending on the live mix and the acoustics of the venue, it's subject to alot of different variables. But here everything sounded amazing.

I'd say James is the best thrash guitarist ever, as thrash is VERY rhythm based, and nobody came up with rhythms like James. But you could certainly make the argument that Marty was the best thrash LEAD guitarist. Dave hired him for a reason. Go look up his work in Cacaphony, pre-Megadeth, and you'll see why Dave hired him. Dude was insane.

Imagine if Megadeth weren’t forced to go mainstream in the 90s and we got a RIP 2.0. I loved the albums they created (even risk) but this is their best.

⁠@@mamaburra69 yes they were. They weren’t able to be themselves. Youthansia was slowed on purpose, Dave even made some songs (blood of heroes, and Killing road) faster on the remaster version since he hated how he was forced to keep all the songs at a certain tempo to get on the radio. With trust he was told to sing the lyrics rather than speak them, Marty quit because his solo got taken out without consent and he even said being in the band held him back musically since megadeth was going all poppy and wrote simpler riffs.

Era tanto frissom que a batera do Menza causava que uma vez em um show a que assisti deles nos anos 90, quando os roadies apenas posicionaram o "carrinho" que conduzia o kit todo dele até o palco, a plateia, incluindo eu, começamos a ovacionar. Hehe! E muitos atônitos com tantos pratos e demais parafernálias do kit bateria gigante que ele trazia. Bateu saudade da adolescência agora!

MARTY. LEGEND!!!! He is not on enough "best guitarists" lists because people who make those lists don't play the instrument. Bradley Hall has given hum a lot of much deserved respect and attention...love that guy! 👍🏼🎸💪
