It's hard to sound pissed off, nervous, hopeless, and epic at the same time but Dave nailed it on the original version

The entire thing shows his talent.....This isn't one of the 'hit' Megadeth songs, but for musicians (myself anyway...) and hardcore fans this song shows complete band unity. Listen to the bass, the guitars, the MELODY of the vocals over such a heavy song, and yes, the lyrics - which fit into the mind-set of living on the edge (RR being the analogy), especially at that time.
@bandolierboy19085 жыл бұрын
You nailed it when you said the mindset of living life on the edge. I thought the exact same thing when I heard this song. Glad other people think the same!

Dave did nail that solo
@RulezAPower8 жыл бұрын
I think the solo is better than Ashes in Your Mouth, but overall, in lyrics and instrumental sense, I think Youthanasia rocks ass of everything else... But it's a tough call... Megadeth just got many, many great songs...

@VEXATIONBAND Man this intro is one of the hardest things to play in the entire megadeth discography. I think that combined with the fact that they probably hadn't played it live since the early 90's and the fact that dave had to reteach his left hand how to play guitar after his nerve damage makes for an acceptably excuse to play it a little slower lol
@Tinky__Winky3 жыл бұрын
The slow intro going back and forth with the bass isn’t incredibly hard, but the section after with the double pull offs is unbelievably challenging

At this point in history (mid 80s metal specifically) you wouldn't write these lyrics unless you were extremely self-destructive. That's why I loved it. Some say the RR was a symbol for his heroin use, who knows. But if you're in 'that place', whatever it is for you specifically, you hear this and literally feel it.

Pero sigo teniendo esperanza de corear en un concierto "You, come on, next victim, you.... next to die" haha xDDD

Dave is one of the best metal composer. One of the best riffer. He did a lot for metal. But, it s solos are often sloppy when he play live.
@JM00237 Жыл бұрын
He probably hadn't practiced this song in 15 years at the time. He kills it live for the most part. Also its one of his hardest solos if not the hardest solo.

@bakalaudia56203 жыл бұрын
I disagree. He sounded pretty bad in rude awakening, he was way better in 99. He had a pretty big vocal decay around that period and I think the hiatus rested his voice well, he just didn't practice at all I guess
