This video made me love Coppola so much more. Look how much he cares about his crew of actors. He's trying to take the attention away from himself. He's asking the reporters to ask questions from the other actors and his son and sister instead of him. Wow.

If I'm not wrong, both girls at the beginning are Romy and Cosima Mars (Sofia Coppola's daughters). That's why he mentions at 1:07 about that time when he brought Sofia Coppola on his shoulders when 'Apocalypse Now' premiered in Cannes.

One of his granddaughters became uncomfortable and embarrassed standing next to her grandpa. Listening to their conversation was such a family thing. I recall being with my grandparents at functions and being shy. I think the beginning of the clip is very human; very much about family. Love it

Lots to think about after watching this press conference. I hope the film gets a distribution deal. Many movie fans are tired of remakes, sequels and prequels. And many people have never seen a Francis Coppola film in theater so the industry needs to give this film a chance to find an audience here in the US.

I agree. It is one of the most tense press conferences I’ve seen. Clearly not a great working relationship on the set of this movie. It must be awkward. It must not have been a pleasant atmosphere on set while shooting it. Everyone is saying praises to Coppola but clearly not all true. Both the press and the crew are having a difficult time balancing between their respect to an established director and their true opinion regarding this bad movie. They all know it is not a good movie, even Adam Driver is not convinced it works…

@@SlyQueguy the reviews have been bad so far, some of the press boo’ed the movie at the Cannes screening and when being interviewed for the movie Ferrari a few months ago, Adam Driver was asked about Megalopolis and he expressed his skepticism about it. And it’s unlikely you ever would as if he wasn’t rich and famous and cast often enough in h wood for you and I to recognize him this ‘quality’ wouldn’t exist. @@RBGRBGRBGRBG I disagree, I find him very attractive but it took me a few movies to get it and I guess also a few interviews that I saw that made me discover how much I also like his personality and sense of humour… I think if he was a regular person that I could get to meet as a peer, Id end up finding him really attractive cause he’s got a slow burning type allure that has nothing to do with the fact he might be famous or rich now

@RBGRBGRBGRBG 27 күн бұрын
@@edgar7021I mean that’s a very para social thing to say.. also, I can make that statement and it doesn’t necessarily mean that I personally don’t see his appeal, I’m saying, again, that with anyone who is not classically handsome or whatever… the reality is we will never know with a lot of these people because *we only know of them after they become rich and famous*. It’s literally impossible to know because you never knew them in any other context, and someone who is rich and famous is always going to be more appealing for myriad reasons.

@@GuineaPigEveryday "not exactly a much-praised actor and renowned for her performances" You know she was 19 when the movie was filmed? Aubrey will be 40 this June. Did you know Aubrey did her first movie when Grace was 2 yrs old, 18 yrs ago when she was 22? Simon Cowell tried to turn Grace into some sort of Pop Jojo Siwa so it appears she fought that and Columbia has limited her to 3 songs a year for the last 3 years. No radio time. Only allowing her one full album and a EP in 8 years. In the last 3 yrs she had to change genres trying to attract a different audience. If someone liked her song and they wanted to hear more all they could find was the music she did when she was 12-14 yrs old. Any work she got in the last 3 years she had to go out and get it herself. Nothing she did in the last 3 years showed that Columbia was involved with anything she did. From 12 to 20 she couldn't get any radio time from Columbia either. She's been performing for packed house since she was 12 and since she doesn't do Rap or Hip Hop she has stayed under the radar. Coppola was looking into LG technology and that's how he met her father. Her Dad told Coppola about his daughter and after Coppola saw her work he instantly hired her for this movie. Columbia/agents had nothing to do with her being in this movie it was her father. Check out this video just after her 13th Birthday singing in front of a packed arena for the 2017 Special Olympics in Austria. kzbin.info/www/bejne/goinn52Zh8-Wepo Months after that she stunned the Austin City Concert organizers by stealing the audiences from the other stages. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2LNY3mLd7CImZY She started out singing folk/rock and Simon Cowell screwed her career for 8 years fighting her to be another Pop star attracting 8 year olds. She is now picking up the pieces. This is sad because Aubrey is my favorite actress right now.

The exchange about politics between Coppola and Jon Voight I think says a lot about how different things are now than they were 25 years ago. Coppola *wants* to make it political and Voight doesn't, even though you would think the right winger was the one who would be pushing their beliefs and ideas on you. Voight was asked about politics and just returned a beautiful, heartfelt salutation to Coppola's genius and the movie and coming together, and when it shifts back to Coppola he brings it back to politics and says "we don't agree." It's a very interesting exchange.

@lockekappa500

Because it's a big expensive movie, that if it bombs, will cause the distributor to lose a lot of money. And ambitious niche projects like this often don't return what they cost to make, at least not in the short term. Sometimes they become hits later, or gather a following and make money with streaming or purchases later. But most people don't see movies like this that dont have a direct tie-in to something else they know. Aka star wars, marvel films, etc.

Former White House chief of staff, retired Marine Gen. John Kelly, said, "President Trump is the most flawed person I've ever known. The depths of his dishonesty is just astounding to me. The dishonesty, the transactional nature of every relationship, though it's more pathetic than anything else. He is the most flawed person I have ever met in my life." Greg Cohn, Trump's chief economic advisor in the early white house years, said, "He gets up because he is bored. And his staff is no better. Kushner is an entitled baby who knows nothing. Bannon is an arrogant prick who thinks he's smarter than he is. Trump is less a person than a collection of terrible traits. No one will survive the first year but his family. I hate the work, but feel I need to stay because I'm the only person there with a clue what he's doing. The reason so few jobs have been filled is that they only accept people who pass ridiculous purity tests, even for midlevel policy-making jobs where the people will never see the light of day. A lot of money old guy. For what? Not Disney hindu Star Wars but old Georgy technician Star Wars. Cities were important altough Luke was a good farmer hero. Somebody innocent, not as Dracula. You know what? Technicians like you learn how and then achieve to count a lot of money for their... Things. But the end of your time arrived. This present looks like you: A rusty mechanism. Aha, Emmanuel, your daugther. Go with Bill to hell, don't fly her to the moon, you are not taller enough. Your love.

@@marper00 So do i but that doesn't mean i have to listen to their self righteous BS, they need to start looking a bit closer to home and start dealing with the perverted cesspit that is Hollywood before i even think of listening to that bollocks

The death stare of Coppola when unknown actress Plaza comments at 18:01 LOL What is she rambling about? Of course actors need to play around to build the character!!

Well, no more messing around, Grandpa Coppola has put his last dollars into the affair. Even if it's total shit, we close our eyes, we clench our butts and we swallow the Cannes propaganda.

I can't stand all this bullshit about comparing the USA to the Roman empire ... But what can you expect from a director who made the bombing and massacre of the Vietnamese people look cool?
