@@offkilterfishing in my experience mostly with stripers up north, the bigger fish hang below the young guys which are dropping pieces of fish their tearing up and pick those up. He saw an easy meal floating by and grabbed it. Kinda like me. I’m living off SS waiting for my son with his boat to call me to go fishing and I just reel fish in and he does the work.😂🤣

You ever wanna hit the marsh or bridges in the Swansboro/Ab area let me know. I’ll put you on some good trout too in the fall.

congrats on the surprise gator trout. Ya'll silent giggles made me laugh. I'd get a fiberglass mount of the trout if I were you. Sounds like a fish of a lifetime where you're from.

Nice fish! Very solid weight for that length. For the record though, New River sucked really bad the last 2 years. All the guides and most locals fished the Neuse all fall and winter.
@252chase Жыл бұрын
I think next fall/ winters trout fishing is gonna be crazy good bc so many big fish survived up neuse and pamlico.

Congrats on the first citation man! Gotta get up and fish that bridge with you in the fall, it can be insane!

Awesome video, I went to this same location about 4 years ago without a boat and caught a bunch of pin fish! Now I have a boat and we plan on crushing them like you! Question how do you know all these hot spots? From Morehead, to Topsail, to Sneads Ferry etc!
@offkilterfishing Жыл бұрын
I grew up here, been fishing this area since the 80's. RIP Scotch Bonnet Pier, Sportsman's Pier, Iron Steamer Pier, Indian Beach Pier, Continental Shelf Head Boat. Season bottom fishing pier pass $20, children under 12 free, free parking. Simpler times...

Need to make an mudcrab stone crab comparison because I went to island near bogue air field and seemed like every crab I found had an lil purple in there claws at least over 50 count so I threw them back and grabbed fiddler crabs .
@offkilterfishing Жыл бұрын
Check out my "WORTH THE WAIT" video, I do a comparison of the two at the beginning. Mud Crabs have purple claws quite often, stone crabs have purple striped legs and spots on their back.

Caught a 8.26 pounder back in January. It really didn't taste all that good, the smaller ones are better to eat. Still waiting for the state to send my citation.

Mr. Kilter, Can you give me an idea where I can find Mud Crabs and / or sea urchins ? I have looked by the Harkers Island shrimp fleet dock at low tide and in the back of the island on the grass flats and jetty barriers agin at low tide. I prefer getting my own bait if I can , I just have a 16' skiff and am only looking for dinner for my wife and me. Getting tired of Spanish Macks plus they don't keep. Thanks Ken

It was delicious, 1/2 used for hot and sour soup, 1/2 poached and used for fish salad with pickle relish. I am not going to keep any more big ones because they are breeders, I get that, but chill...

Everybody kills their first big one. I can promise you our local guides and comm fishermen kill more like that one in a month than any of us will kill in a lifetime. Nice fish man.

I'm personally glad they are starting to tighten up on limits. It's the "fill the freezer" guys that's the problem. This dude keeps everything he catches. He would literally have to cook fish 6 nights a week to keep it from being freezer burnt.
