I don't know why, but in every playthrough of this game that I've done, Smorg's attacks and movements time perfectly with the music. Like, from 1:24 to 1:27, Smorg attacks. And the buildup to it is just so epic.

Yeah Smorg was super easy to me as well. You can take the arms out on the first turn with Vivian's Fiery Jinx and Smorg gets completely stomped (no pun intended) by Mario's Super Jump with me dealing like 20+ damage each turn. 50 HP with a defense of 0? Yeah he went down in less than 4 turns for me lol

One of the best fights nowing you're fighting something yoou don't even know how was created... Pretty amazing how they came into the story with no problem. To me these things have something special about them, they most play as a reference to something (Yes, that includes "Snakes On The Plane") Even though it was made BEFORE Snakes on the plane...

This game was excellent at making you feel for the characters. Ohh man when these things molded together I was legitimately frightened for the passengers inside. I fought as hard as I could to save the wonderfully fleshed out characters I had met on the train. I never tried more superguards than I did fighting this thing, and by the end of the fight I got pretty good at it :D

after defeating the first boss, buy the double damage badge and equip it for the rest of the game and see if it doesn't make it more challenging

@CinosTheHedgehog2000 apparently from Mario Wiki they are smog, kinda like sludge or thick grease. Which is why they are called smorg, the are animated Smogs.

If you take advantage of Vivian in that boss fight, you'll do well. Use her veil on his charge-up form. And then use firey jinx for the last form.

Woah... so much thought! The eyes of a Smorg are a 50/50 for that, but it just could be the hood design. And anyways, he already slowed you down as a fake celebrity who soon after escaped the train at the intersection which was already being douchbagged by a bridge issue (Possibly because of the SS's jiggling with the hopper controls or just simply using some sort of force magic to bend both bridge chips out of the way in the station!), and it's clear he was given plenty screen time in the game.

Not to be mean to anyone that had trouble with it, but I found this boss SO easy, even for my first time playing through, that I didn't think it was the chapter boss. Also, it appeared before you even got to your destination and just seemed so random.

@CIicktheYellowButton @BlackRoy13 Well, the Shadow Sirens invoked the Smorgs to delay the train to Poshley Heights by lifting the train bridge in the Riverside Station. That didn´t work, so the Smorgs got on the train and kidnapped all people in it. So, the Sirens' plan was to make the train stop and get the Crystal Star before Mario, though failing.

Ahh...I can envision this battle like a Pokemon battle. Wild Smorg appeared! Go! Mario and Vivian! Mario used Power Lift! Ally's Attack and Defense rose sharply! Vivian used Fiery Jinx! Wild Smorg took 7 damage! Wild Smorg got burned! Wild Smorg's Miasma Arms fell down temporarily! Mario used Power Bounce! Critical hit! Wild Smorg took 40 damage! Vivian used Fiery Jinx! Wild Smorg took 3 damage! Wild Smorg fainted! Mario and Vivian gained 33 Star Points.

Snake: What is this thing? Naomi: It's Smorg, a monster born from the soot and oil of years of use in the Riverside Station. It appears that these creatures were responsible for raising the drawbridge. Campbell: It's very powerful, so keep your wits about you, Snake. It will attack with its miasma tentacles, or pinch you with its pincer. It appears the red Smorgs are what makes this creature vulnerable. Its HP is at 50 and the attack of it's tentacle and pincer are 5 and 10 respectively.
