Megan Fox could not have found the tomb of Achilles here, at Beşik Tepe. The mound was excavated in the 1980s and 1990s. No burial chamber was found in it. Rather, it is a monument dating from the 5th millenium BC. It was there before the Trojan War. Ironically, Megan may have been closer to the tomb than she realized. The promontory on which she was standing (Beşik-Yassıtepe, or Beşika Burnu) matches the description of Achilles' tomb in the Odyssey: "on a projecting headland by the broad Hellespont" (24.82). The place used to be called Achilleion because it was "the place where the monument of Achilles stands" (Strabo, Geography, 13.1.39). The tomb had probably been there too. And Megan is looking out to sea...!

This may have been the place. Another story said she hung herself on a tree in Rhodes. Another story has her marry Achilles and lead an eternal life on White Island off the Danube. Today this place is called Zmiinyi and belongs to Ukraine. Russia attacked it in February 2022. There are other stories too.

When reading the Iliad, you find descriptions of Achilles suggesting he was a giant. For instance, when Patroclus puts on Achilles armor, it doesn't fit him so well. There's enough space so Hectors blade darts over the neck-line killing Patroclus. He must have been a pretty big guy to even be confused with Achilles and wear the armor, but Achilles must have been considerably bigger.

The skeletons of the greek bronze age nobility are around 2m in hight. That is because the people of the palace had a much easier life and good food. A lot of meat for example. It is quite possible that Achilles was not just the best fighter and the best armored greek of the war, but also a very large person. I'm 1,85m. But I fell like I'm a dwarf, next to a 2,10m person. And I would never be able to propperly wear an armor for such a large person.

But the torjan war was long before Homer's time and the custom of the Mycenaean Greeks was burial, sometimes burning the body to get the bones.
