The play tip is super good. The push/pull of wanting/getting attention can teach persistence/resistance on ALL parties. Pulling away from work and playing will reduce the persistence, because they know you’re available and that increases flexibility and reduces the level of demand. That was my favorite part! 👏

One line a day journal filled out at the end of each day: *one line for the day’s events *one line for each child; a milestone, a memorable event, story, or funny kid quote, etc *one line of spiritual: prayer, gratitude or a verse This little journal that takes only a couple minutes will be a precious memento when your children are older... it feels like you don’t have the time now, but if you don’t take these moments now, you’ll never capture them in your memory. 💝

So agree! I’ve recently taken up the habit of “airing the bed”. (1950’s video idea) I pull the sheet and blanket back to reveal the spots where we slept all night, instead of just leaving covers how they lay when I get up. I let it air out while I make my hubby his cup of coffee and breakfast. As soon as he leaves for work (or sometimes before) I go in and make the bed. For me personally, it’s depressing coming into the room to go to bed and it being unmade.

Here are a few of mine! - Tidy the bedroom before leaving it in the morning, including gathering laundry and making the bed. -Have a daily "quiet time" even for kids who don't nap anymore. We have quiet time while the toddler naps and this is when I do self care like exercise! -Meal planning. I keep my meal plan stuck to the fridge and try to batch cook on the weekends to make the week go more smoothly. -Get kids involved in daily chores! After breakfast my 6 kids and I do a quick whole house cleanup before starting our homeschool day. It takes less than an hour and every room gets touched.

Honestly, I didn’t realize that it was a habits that I implemented, but when you pointed it out, I also realized that I stop and do stuff with my kids here and there rather than after things are done. I also started because after I got everything done I always wanted me time, not to go play with kids. I always felt guilty for this. But hearing and seeing someone else do it, it actually makes sense. When they are older, kids are going to think, “Mommy frequently put me over her work to play with me and make time for me” instead of, “Mom gave me the last bit of her time when she was just exhausted.” Kids don’t have the longest attention span ever. They are going to value quantity more than how long each time.

I want to encourage you regarding your second-to-last tip... I called it the “5 minute” rule. Just take “5 minutes”, and stop what you are doing to enter their world... really, really look at them. It’s so worth it. Even now, with grown kids, the “5 minute” rule still applies. It’s just deeper now. My kids tell me that they’ve always felt like they could come to me at any time. It’s a habit that you are starting now, that helps your kids communicate with you more and more the older that they get. Well done!

I started this about a month ago, I get up eat breakfast with my 8 month old and 3 year old then I do a 45 to 60 minute workout, I’m usually done by around 10am and so far I’m loving it. I’m hoping that I will stick to it all year long.

How do you keep your children entertained while you do a workout like that?
@idepartasair3 жыл бұрын
@@vheewhy9882 I'm wondering the same thing. I have a 4yo, a 3yo, and a 6mo, and I can baaaarely get in a 15-20 minute workout without the frustration of my 6mo beginning to fuss or my toddlers fighting. That is even with me waking at 5am every day. There is absolutely no way that I could fit in a 45-60 minute workout, unless I made my husband try to watch all three after his long day at work...
@Iamboughtbytheking3 жыл бұрын
Hi ladies I hear ya it is kinda hard sometimes and sometimes they do fight or my baby gets cranky cuz she needs a nap but for the most part it works pretty good. I have a big space we’re I work out on one end of the room and they have all their toys on the other end so that helps a lot, I usually have all the toys picked up when I start since dumping them out is the most fun for them so that helps. Also I find that having a routine for your kids makes it all a lot easier too. Plus in the morning my kids are usually happy so mornings just work better, so I encourage you to try it for a week or two and see if it doesn’t get easier once they are used to it a bit.
@idepartasair3 жыл бұрын
@@Iamboughtbytheking I have a very steady routine, and my two toddlers are usually pretty cooperative. They'd probably let me do a longer workout, but my 6mo absolutely would not. I do try to incorporate mini exercises outside of my 20min one, though. For example, if there are five minutes of free time for me, I'll do 100 squats, elevated push-ups, or calf raises. Physical activity is definitely a great energy and mood boost.

Great tips Megan! My tip is to load the washer the night before adding detergent but not starting instead set the delay button for the morning with the load to be done when you wake up. Also the night before set a reminder bell on your phone to put clothes in dryer near the time you wake up. After putting clothes in dryer set another alarm bell on phone for when dryer is to be done usually around an hour later even if you can hear the bell from the dryer the phone reminder keeps it at the fore front of your mind. When phone alarm bell goes off fold warm clothes from dryer, fighting to make it a priority (at least I need to-ha). This is when they are most wrinkle free. Put away folded clothes that you can. If kids are still sleeping obviously wait to put their things away if they are light sleepers. I find that getting a load of laundry done this way puts me ahead of the day and feels as if someone helped with the laundry even though it was me the night before. You can also set the washer to be done when you get home from errands or work and set alarms on your phone to remember you started a load.

What a brilliant video! You are such a good mum! I couldn't agree more with everything you're saying! I do all of it daily, ever since I became a mum and I swear by it. I don't read the Bible, since I am not a Christian but I listen to inspiring spiritual materials, when I do my morning skincare too 🙂. I would add 3 more: 1. as you said, taking some time every day for planning, writing lists, prioritising, making appointments. I call it a quiet time. 2. Every day, checking for things we could throw out or give away. Having no clutter, only keeping what we really need and love. 3. Keping toys away in small bundles. Only taking out 1 bundle at the time, and swap when they get bored. If all the toys are out ironically the kids don't know what to play with and it's chaos. I hope you don't mind me adding my nuggets of wisdom. Lots of love, thank you 💓

I work part time as a massage therapist in a room in my house, but transitioning from a full time Physical therapist assistant at an outpatient/hospital has been a huge transition. Hello I am a single mother to a 3 year old she will be 4 in August and I've been feeling depressed lately cause I really don't want to put my daughter in public school for the fear of something bad happening I want her to have a social life but I also wanted to homeschool will they also have a social life a time to play with others when they are homeschooled and could you tell me why you chose that route please??? Thank you!! :)
@Sa_Raw3 жыл бұрын
@@shantelgoode5069 Hi! We chose to homeschool for so many reasons! It would take me longer then I have right now to list them all but the main ones were limiting negative outside influences and flexibility in our schedule and lives. My children have many social experiences that enrich their lives. We definitely had more before covid shut everything down but even now my children have many friends on our street that they are friends with and play with daily, my girls have choir practice once a week, and one of my boys has a karate class. We are also a part of a local homeschool P.E. class in our town and our homeschool program we are in also organizes local field trips. Not to mention playmates with friends. All that being said though I know plenty of children that go to public school and thrive there. Really you have to decide what works for your family and situation. As hard as it sometimes is, try not to let fear rule your decisions. I am sure that no matter which path you choose for your daughter she will ba happy and do well. At the end of the day we are all just trying our best for our littles ❤

Water play/sensory table time. My kids love water, what kid doesn’t! When it was -40 and to cold to go out we did some day time tub time or put some water into the sensory table. Added some scoops, funnels and Pom poms were a huge hit!! This week I added dry kidney beans to our sensory table. I know I know I’m going to get some people shaking their head that I’m wasting food. But we do a lot of non food items too! Fake snow, water beads, packing peanuts and even tossed in real snow and painted it when it was to cold. My comment is becoming very long, oops! Anyway sensory play, even calms my mind when I sit and play with the Littles for a bit too :)

We had a routine of our outings; Monday was park or indoor playground day, Tuesday library day, Wednesday their choice, Thursday friend meet up day, and Friday another library day. It for sure kept my sanity and helped them run off energy. My kiddos aren't little anymore so their personalities and preferences get more of a priority than energy demands and needed nap times. I believe that making your bed and no dirty dishes helps your mood and outlook too. One of the things that has always helped me since I first got married 38 years ago was to not acquire too much stuff. I taught my daughter this too, that less is more. She has definitely embraced this in her home and it frees her up to spend more time with her husband and to always, well almost always, have a clean and orderly home when her husband comes home and a home cooked meal.
