Your cake looks great! I just wanted to give you a tip. If you have a chocolate cake and dust your cake pan with cocoa powder instead of flour, you won't get white residue on your cake. Someone gave me that tip once and I've done it ever since.

It's just so wonderful how you interact with your kids. You and Josh, going camping, stimulating their minds. Thank you guys for being responsible, loving parents. Seems like a dumb thing to say but it should be highlighted more in today's world. Also I'm going on vacation this week and the prep is brutal. Lol. So I'm right there with you preparing everything.

Watching Evonnie dip her burger in the salad dressing reminded me of my oldest son. He dips “ALL” of his sandwiches in ketchup! I thought he would grow out of it but he is 51 years old and still has this habit. I asked him one time if he did that when he went out to lunch with a business associate and he said “you know, I guess I do”. He went on to say that he had done it for over 40 years and he just did it without thinking. I found it humerus and thought to myself, well I guess we all have our “habits”.

Looks like a great time.We used to camp all the time when our kids were little.I think all kids should have that experience.We don't watch football.We weren't ever big fans but when they started all the kneeling and stuff like that we don't pay any attention to it anymore.

I have a chocolate cake recipe similar to the one you showed. When my girls were in high school they would make one and eat it after school before I got home from work. I caught on to this little trick when it seemed Hershey cocoa was on the shopping list every week! They were good cleaner uppers….. but they finished it and never saved me a piece….. probably how they got away with it so long! Loved watching your camping trip and making so many things over the fire. 😀

That is hilarious! My brother used to get a piece of bread and put butter on it, pop it in the microwave, and then sprinkle sugar on it and he would always make two pieces (one for me). I think this was our version of this.

We always made fruit and cream pies with the mountain pie irons. We just used regular bread buttered and laid in them. Sugar when they are browned. We also always had a night of pizzas. We just always used a loaf of bread for the crusts. All our ingredients are cooked just need to get hot and the bread browned. Banana boats are yummy too and the kids love them. Then the hobo packets. As the kids got older they could make them. Then of course adults were in charge of the cooking. My boys are adults now and they still talk about our family camping trips.

You are the BEST Mom! You know your proprieties and your kids are going to have MANY precious memories. This blog reminded me of our family camping. I just loved it and especially bringing a little home with us on the trip! I noticed the cloth tablecloth on the picnic table! I did the same thing! Love your videos that include the kids. ❤️❤️❤️

Loved this vlog!!! Your enthusiasm in all is contagious.A suggestion when kids are napping is o join them and take a power nap.Your body will love you and you will recharge. Cant wait to try your chocolate cake recipe. Think ill add some instant coffee granules to deepen chocolate flavor!! The children are adorable and they have the most beautiful eyes!

I never heard them called mountain pie holders before, we refer to them as hobo pie holders. My husband does pizza, grilled cheese, regular pies with the bread, apple pie filling and a marshmellow...so good..

There is great contact papers that are water proof perfect for camper walls and restrooms. We used some right over our linoleum floor that was hideous lol and the kind we got looks like wood and it came out and is last beautifully

Your children will look back fondly on their camping adventures. You made it so fun and wholesome for them ... well done! As soon as you mentioned "crazy cake" I wondered if it was the same as the "wacky cake" we make here. Yes! It's the exact same recipe. We enjoy it made in a 9x13 pan and we just sprinkle chocolate chips over the batter before baking. It's quick and doesn't require making frosting. A neat side note on that recipe: my daughter threw a baby shower for a friend who loves chocolate but couldn't eat milk or eggs. Crazy/wacky cake to the rescue!!

My children are now 27 and 24 and I have such fond memories of going on family camping trips with our pop up camper. Enjoy every minute and soak up the memories. You do such a good job with your children! Motherhood is a blessing ♥️

I made another mistake. I think I got Hannah mixed up with another lady that goes to my church that is going to have a baby girl. I don't think Hannah is finding out the gender of her baby until it is born, or isn't telling till it is born. Either way, we don't know the gender of her baby.

Fun video...my family was a camping family but we only did tents and even though I have fond memories of swimming in the creek and lake, cooking on and sitting around the campfire, nature walks etc...I'm not much of a camper now unless it's with a camper and lots of the luxuries from home!! Have you ever tried crazy cake in a well-oiled camping iron? Corn bread, crazy cake, and hand pies (with homemade fruit filling) were always favorites when camping. Yes, we liked the sandwiches too, egg/cheese/meat were always available all day for hard-playing kids! Really enjoyed you video ❣️

Awesome video, Megan! Your videos make me want to get going to clean, decorate, cook, and just do all the things that make me feel good. One tip… I thought you may like to look into agave nectar as a different kind of sweetener for your iced coffees if you want to change them up some time. It doesn’t have a particular flavor per say but just a lighter sweet syrup. I use it in my iced coffee with some half and half and that’s all I need. Thanks again for great quality videos! 🙂
