My question is why didn't Oprah fact check any of this? I know its entertainment, but she's putting false claims out on her show, and Oprah (and the shows producers) should share in the responsibility of that. Journalists are required to be able to support their stories, even if they don't name sources. Things like "Archie was denied a title because of his colour". He doesn't have a title because he is more than 2 generations removed from the sitting monarch. Thats British law. When George Cambridge was born the queen had to put a motion to parliament to give him titles, and only did so because the Cambridge children are direct in line. None of the queens other great-grandchildren were given HRH. This should've been easy for Oprahs team to confirm. It looks like they didn't even care that they were producing a programme, smearing many people, without any evidence. Oprah is officially the tabloid.

As much as I don't like Meghan, people didn't understand what she was really saying. She was saying that they wanted to change the rules for Harry's children so that even when Charles became king and Harry's children became the grandchildren of the Sovereign in the male line, that Harry's children still wouldn't get titles. That was Charles' plan, that only the children of the eldest child of the Sovereign or 1st in line to the Throne get titles. For example, Charles wants to change it do that in future only George's children will get titles, but not Louis', even when they are the grandchildren of William in the male line, and be treated just like Charlotte's children. That way, the number of princes and princesses would gradually reduce. That's why even when Charles became king, Archie and Lilibet didn't become a prince and princess, there was still wrangling going on behind the scenes. Charles no doubt gave in because then it would look like he made the decision based on the fact that they're mixed race, even though this was something he'd long planned, even before Meghan came along. That's something that will no doubt be implemented to affect the next generation, Louis' children.

Although the line is somewhat bendy in places she is in some way descended from monarchs who lived a thousand years ago or even before that. It's hard to explain to people outside the UK but it's a very deeply rooted thing in our national identity, I think perhaps the equivalent for an American would be to ask them to just scrap the constitution because why are you living by rules written hundreds of years ago? But for a lot of Americans it's not just about the functionality of the rules contained in the constitution, it's the symbolism of a document that was foundational to the nation which is important to them, the monarchy has a similar importance for Brits. And countries which lose that often have a hard time hanging together, if you take countries in Africa, a lot of them were cobbled together in a fairly arbitrary manner by outsiders and a lot of them are either in civil wars or are only held together by brutal despots. Much of this is to do with the lack of common identity with those nations and stronger identity with some pretty ancient tribes or clans. Alternatively look at countries which have gone through a major revolution and a lot of them descend into anarchy before being pulled together by a dictator, this is necessary because the revolution has often torn away some long-standing institution that was at the core of the society. To make countries work in a moderately civilised and peaceful manner there needs to be something in them that connects the current generation to a deeper history and to each other via that history, sometimes that can seem a bit arbitrary to outsiders but it's an essential form of glue for those living there.

I think the royal family existing is fine, but they shouldn't be allowed in politics ever and shouldn't have all the wealth that they do. The Queen shouldn't be able to wear a crown worth millions and tell the working class to donate money to causes, when she's wearing a crown that could sustain a part of the country. And African countries are in civil wars and wars with each other as a result of imperialism, thanks to the Brits, French, and Belgians.
