I am using the Valle Eagle 8S training glove. You can use code "megrem" on all Valle training gloves. www.google.com...

Great drills! You are great at picking the short hops. Do you have a video/drills on how to read the hops and how to work on picking the short hops?

At what age do you think this would be a successful drill? My players are ages 6-10 years old, and we are still trying to get them to get in front of the ball to stop it while fielding. (A lot of new players.)

It honestly just depends on the player. I would say make sure their basic fundamentals are down and once they start to understand how their body can move, you can introduce it. 6-10 may be too early. I usually start around 11 or 12 and I make sure they know when to use backhand, when to get infront and when to get around. The why is important!

@@MegRemSoftball thank you! I agree, “why” is just as important as “what,” or “how.” I try to explain “why” in different ways in hopes that it will click for them. Your teaching style is exactly how I like to teach. Direct and to the point, and you touch on subjects I haven’t seen before. My daughter had coaches when she played that never really said “why,” just “what” and “how.” I think that is a mistake. I will give it a try this fall and see who “gets it.” I have a lot of new players, so we focus on basics for now, but your channel has given me plenty of new ideas to work with. Thanks!

@@rumblehat4357 Add in some baserunners when hitting them some balls and they will see what they have time for and what they don't. It will give them a better understanding on "why" they would need to backhand or "why" they need to get infront.
