@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Welcome 🍻 I love how you use the black panel with compound marks to test gloss enhancement, and only use the gloss meter for complimentary data. I'll never forget when Bead Maker first came out, it was sort of crowned the "gloss king" by certain channels that like to get paid for bogus reviews. Then you tested Bead Maker on your swirl marked panels, and clearly showed that it has absolutely no filling/gloss enhancement capabilities. That completely sold me on your testing methodology

I'm currently using PolishAgel red tint on my new Lexus with Vermilion paint and must say it brings out the metallic and the depth is absolutely insane. It does take a bit of getting used to not being a super slick finish but the gloss certainly makes up for that. Cheers Brenton.

For my higher end cars I’ve been a huge fan of Polish Angel products with Flake still being my favorite (contact washes),.I never thought High gloss would be phased out as it provides a great glow and I can 90% dry my car by flooding the panels. The High Gloss is definitely worth it. Maybe not for your average customer but the high end or your own queen. I’ve never believed the Powerlock was any good or that it topped with Collinite would yield 1 year of protection as many people claim. This clearly shows that claim to be a hard one to buy. Great video!

Who expects a year of protection from powerlock+Collinite? I use 1 coating of powerlock and 2 of Collinite. It definitely lasts over 6 months. Then it's time either for a strip down and reapplication or a full paint correction plus reapplication (full process every year). My only concern with m21 is whether it would play nice with the Collinite. But I have plenty of pl left, so I won't be experimenting. I'd love a measure of the quality of light that is reflected. I think the pl+Collinite produces a luscious glow that is different from a sealant's.

I absolutely loved this video. I've recently been thinking about changing to jescar ultra lock from my Meguiars. I would be interested to see those results! I've been using meguiars for years and still use it on customers vehicles. I love the user experience. One I consistently use is Meguiars ultimate liquid wax. From what Meguiars have told me it will last a little bit longer and protects better than m21 and has the added benefit of not leaving a residue on plastic, vinyl, or rubber trim. It's also available locally to me here in Canada, and they are the same price in 16oz sizes. The benefit of m21 over ultimate is it can be bought in 64oz bulk size, which is great for a shop. Again awesome video Sandro!!!

Would love to see you try Duragloss 105 and Duragloss Track Claw Sealant. For maximum durability Duragloss 601 (Bonding Agent) needs to be applied but isn't required. Both of these products are less expensive than the ones shown here, and in my personal use held up better. What I mean by that is protection from Bird Bombs and Bug bombs. I actually prefer these over Si02 nano coatings for this exact reason. Yes, you need to apply the Duragloss more often, every 3 months or so, but its easy to apply and for the average joe just makes more sense. Duragloss 105 runs about $12 per bottle (US), Duragloss Track Claw runs $25 (US) and the Bonding Agent 601 runs $18 (US). The 105 is a Polyamino Silicone product, Track Claw is a Fluoropolymer Sealant. I realize Si02 may shed water better than both these products, but when Bird Bombs and bugs hit your car and are baked on in the sun? The Duragloss products I have seen better resistance to etchings and staining. Definitely worth a try.
@CarCraftAutoDetailing3 жыл бұрын
Seems like you’ve had some pretty good experiences with Duragloss and I’ll definitely keep them in mind for future reviews as I do also like the brand but honestly haven’t used their products in quite some time.

@@CarCraftAutoDetailing yes I have. They are different type of product compared to the new trends now. I have tried the new stuff and keep going back to Duragloss. They are good products. I wouldn't go by their 1 year durability claim but a good 3-4 months is realistic. I realize user experience varies but these products just simply work well enough to have me keep going back to them . I have been testing the Duragloss Track Claw Polish but actually is a synthetic Florapolymer wax. I have never used it before. 105 is most likely more "durable" but I like this Track Claw. I need to use it at least a year before I can say how "durable" it is. Initial findings after 2 months in 125+F heat are positive 👍

I still use Duragloss 111 a lot. It was about 11 years ago I found some at a Car Quest in Marysville, Michigan in the states. I picked up 111, and 101. The spring of 2011, my old boss at the car wash hired me to "wax" his car. I thought I'd give the 111 a shot because it was a brand new vehicle. Our manager and I would always inquire customers when their car had good water repellency. We wanted to find out what they were using. For the next six months that the boss would come through, the Duragloss 111 was holding up. The managers favorite was turtle wax Ice paste. Mine was 111. Even Aquawax can hold up well. It survived a Michigan winter with snow, salt, brine, etc. About A month ago I did a paint correction for a shop I work for part time. We usually apply Ceramic Pro, or Xpel coatings (which are not fun to work with. Xpel Fusion is bearable, but Ceramic Pro makes me want to bulldoze their facility). This job was non coating. So I used DG 111. Shop owner, and the other two detailer loved how this old school sealant looked and felt on the Land Rover. They thought I coated it.

@@danlc95 The newer nano coatings are the biggest fad right now. EVERYTHING has "Ceramic" in it these days. Reminds me of "Teflon" in the 80's and 90's. A couple of things. 1. Most "Ceramic", "Si02" products have a ton of VOC's in them. They have to in order to have a carrier for the nano particles. These VOC's are very harmful to us to breathe, touch, etc. Yes the labels on these products state to use masks and gloves, with PLENTY of ventilation, but honestly?? Who does that? Even professional shops I have seen don't. Over time, these new coatings may cause some serious health issues. 2. Many Si02 products, as good as they bead water (poor indicator for durability anyway) are HORRIBLE at protecting against water spots. You get caught in a fluke thunderstorm in the middle of summer with your Si02 "coated" car? Most likely you are polishing the whole car, if not compounding it to get the etchings off. HUGE issue if you live in a HOT climate like I do. Ironically, the polymer products seem to not have this issue. Yes you have to apply polymer products more often, but the ease of use especially for the do it yourselfer is important factor. People say, "oh yeah but my coated car is so much easier to clean". Yeah for about 3-6 months and after that IF YOUR LUCKY the bugs and gunk stick to your car just like anything else. Additionally, the look. Nano coatings give a super high gloss look that just doesn't look good on all colors. Personally, I like to use a conventional wax on darker colors, really brings out the luster and reflection in a way coated cars just can't match. Mike Phillips is a fairly respected guy in the Detailing World. I will pull a quote from him "Find a product that you like to use, and use it often". Mike is exactly right. There is no bulletproof coating out there and boy trust me these shops are making a killing off of people selling it to them, but for most people out there, that actually drive their cars everyday, don't mind washing them every other week and applying a wax or polymer sealant onto their car every 3-4 months? If you do that? Your paint will last many many years. So don't buy into all the hype, buy what is easy for you to use, easy to apply, and just apply it often.
@danlc953 жыл бұрын
@@eppyz - I remember the Teflon craze back then! The consensus was that it was snake oil because the temperatures required to properly bind it to the surface it was applied, would exceed the limits of the substrate. The VOCs.... After a session with Ceramic Pro it felt like my lungs were coated. I'm not sure if you've ever had the immense misfortune experiencing the application/removal process of the Ceramic Pro type coating, but It's one of the most frustrating endeavors I've ever experienced. I swore off glass bottle coatings because of it. I do offer a ceramic coating in my business. It's Optimum Gloss Coat. It applies just like their Opti-Seal polymer sealant. No VOC's, no difficult leveling, no over hyped claims, no need for toppers or periodic boosting, no issue with water spots. That's another reason I'm leery about these coatings. They're actually so delicate and finicky. I want my customers to be able to "set it and forget it". The only coating I can do that with is the Optimum, and apparently the non ceramic Meguiar's coating. (I applied the Megs coating to my old friends truck in August, and he's in love with it). For the most part I use Optimum products. I love their Car Wax (Carnauba/Polymer blend), Opti-Seal (pure polymer sealant), Hyper Seal (sealant/coating), and Gloss Coat (ceramic coating). They're all easy to apply, remove, and don't choke me out with solvents. I still love Meguiar's, Duragloss, and Zymol sealants / waxes. It's refreshing to hear someone speak atvyour level about this. It's something I've thought for a long time myself.

On a side note, couple of months ago you did a glass repellent video. In your neck of the woods have you ever come across a glass sealant [like paint work has for swirls etc] that improves the appearance of glass nicks / minute grazes that are way too small for filling but do catch the sun, in other words a glass sealer polymer with fillers - is there such?

@CarCraftAutoDetailing3 жыл бұрын
I think there was a difference and improvement with a second layer, but generally it’s something like a 25% to 50% improvement and the more layers to apply the less each additional layer can do ultimately. @@paulreichelt1259 haha yeah I know Menzerna USA back in the day. I had one of those original bottles. Sandro said he would test the Jescar when it comes in so I was just throwing out options to test with. I’m surprised he doesn’t have a video on Bead Machine yet. :)

Thanx Sandro for this great and detailed comparison. Are you also planning a video/comparison with PA cosmic spritz? I have both high gloss and cosmic spritz, and cosmic spritz (without the primer spritz) beats high gloss in durability, but almost has the same gloss for the same price.

My pleasure mate and thanks for sharing your own experiences with them, I haven’t planned that video but would certainly be open to it.

Awesome video sandro I always thought powerlock was over rated and wax wise colinite 845 was also overrated coating that was overrated gtech csl! Most under rated Duragloss

I was never impressed with 845. 476 however.... Very hearty wax.

I wanted to try the Jescar Power Lock with Colinite 845 but I would be damned if I could get the Jescar anywhere. I gave up and found other alternatives.

Given your experience, which coating (NOT limited to these three) would you recommend for highest gloss and paint protection on a white car?
@CarCraftAutoDetailing3 жыл бұрын
Nv Nova Lustre is really up there as far as gloss and saturation goes and a couple of layers should help increase looks and durability.

Can we see a test between Seal n Shine, NV Jet and PA High Gloss? I know you've covered them all before but just humour me.... please. Or even a test between PA HG and a similarly priced ceramic coating.
@CarCraftAutoDetailing3 жыл бұрын
Definitely a possibility for a future review!

Great video but PA has cosmic V2 for their sealant. High gloss is a topper.. as is cosmic spritz depending if you want more shine or water beading So not really fair comparison as high gloss isn’t a sealant. .
@JimmyG916 ай бұрын
Megs m21 is the worst ever sealent/paintprotection ive ever tried and i have tried alot. Zero chemical resistance irl and cant handle nordic climate. The polish angel is imo the best high end brand on the market, its not cheap but on your precious its perfect. Daily beater maybe not worth the price. I use gyeon and polish angel for my cars and some labocosmetica products. Great video, i think the gloss readings would be bettet for polish angel high gloss vs the other on a polished panel. Its not formulated as a filler product. Gloss units of high gloss on oerfect polished paint is around 98-100gu.

so the most grabby sealant in the bottle test was the slickest in the water test?
@CarCraftAutoDetailing3 жыл бұрын
Slickness and water hydrophobic behaviour are two very different things. Some of the most hydrophobic ceramic coatings on the market can be quite grabby, so those two characteristics don’t really correlate.

Within these three, I only have experience with power lock. I also find it really disappointing, durabilty wise. It lasts one month max, in my experience. Yes, it is dead easy to wipe off. It does look good and silk feeling to the touch is amazing. But none of these last too long to the point that it just doesn't worth it. In my experience, even show car waxes like Pinnacle Souveran or Nattys last longer, look better and are more joyable to work with. Power lock lasts about the same as P21s and I prefer P21s. Better to work with and better looks. Just my experience with it.

None of the 🇩🇪 products seem to be very slick to the touch across the board. Just used the Sonax spray ceramic and detailer and although slicker than bsd/pns combo. But the German products have crazy water behavior 😁

Would these sealants(or any sealants/waxes) work better if applied with a dual action polisher?
@CarCraftAutoDetailing3 жыл бұрын
If the paint is nicely prepped before hand, then no. But if the paint isn’t well prepared then using a liquid sealant with a polishing pad can actually give you a better result.

What brand wax brings out the most gloss on Red paint?
@CarCraftAutoDetailing3 жыл бұрын
I honestly don’t have specific waxes I’ll use for specific car base coat colours as in my experience a good looking wax will look good regardless of the paint’s base colour. That doesn’t mean that some certain waxes can’t subjectively be seen to look better on certain colours or even flat or metallic paints compared to others, it just means I don’t have that sort of data base reference and it’s hard to objectively create such a thing. Probably not the answer you’re after, but the best I can do!
