Good for you, Megyn Kelly. You're absolutely right. Your question was fair and extremely appropriate to the topic. You defended your journalistic integrity. However, that was sufficient. The part about Hanoi Jane was factually unrelated and unnecessary to make your point, but seemed to be included to be sure folks realize Jane Fonda isn't perfect and hasn't the right to lecture anyone about being appropriate. Truth be told, both of you had your feelings hurt. The greater truth was to simply defend the interview question, but to share that you appropriately assumed she was proud of her plastic surgery and invited her to have a real, honest discussion on aging without blame or shame. Defending ourselves appropriately is enough. We do not need to bring up unrelated topics and bring others down to make ourselves look more deserving. Megyn Kelly - Jane Fonda has done more for the principles of American democracy than you will ever do. Now I back our military and I believe that Jane Fonda was clearly wrong to do what she did. I also know that she has apologized for it. I believe that she was in her 20's when she did it. But she had the courage to speak out on the subject of war . . . not something that American citizens should bury their head in the sand about . . . least of all a citizen with the popular platform that she had at the time. What contribution to our public consciousness were YOU making in YOUR 20's! You live a comfortable life and professional existence. You sit back in your Ivory Tower from your position of privilege and ask questions for a living without ever really having to perform in the tough duties of life. Without ever having to take a principled stand on anything. Jane Fonda has taken many principal stands over the course of her life. Now as far as her physical appearance, Jane looks the way she does in part because she was one of the pioneers of exercise. You may be too young to remember the Jane Fonda workout but it was a cultural phenomena. All those early 1980s pictures of women running around in in leg warmers is due to her. And along with exercise I'm sure she was drinking beet juice and wheatgrass juice and eating tofu. Now I don't know what the protocol is for discussing someone's personal plastic surgery but it's pretty clear from the look on her face that she felt you were violating it or that you had got her there under false pretenses. So all things considered Ms. Kelley, I think you should shut up and respect your elders.

Wow, an all time low for Megyn attacking Jane for this, and then using something in Jane's past that goes back over 40 years ago (something she has apologized for time and time again) to justify doing so, and trying to shame her, and get her audience on her side. Very transparent, and bad, bad journalism. Whatever happened to journalists reporting the story; not BEING the story. Jane hasn't been "fixated" on this situation ever since; she's just been asked about it in interviews over and over again since it happened. The show has obviously been receiving flak since it happened, and they're going overboard with this rebuttal to make Megyn look like the victim. The thing is, this show is failing, and they've paid Megyn WAY too much, and they're going to do whatever they can to save this show. The style of the FOX network journalists are combative, defensive and abrasive, and Megyn doesn't transition out of that format to this kind of format. The interview was about aging and even though your approach was clumsy I don't think the question about plastic surgery was inappropriate. Everyone knows she's had it. Megyn has too. So what! A few have asked why bring up Vietnam? Why not bring up the elephant in the room about Fonda and Vietnam? It's the first thing many of us older folks think about when you mention the name Jane Fonda. I may LOVE Jane Fonda, and still do, and I forgive her for what she did a long time ago as she has apologized, but Megyn is right about this. Maybe Jane just came on the show, automatically not wanting to give her the time of day because of their difference in political beliefs, but Megyn did remain professional about it and she does have a point. Sorry Jane, but Megyn is right here! I love Megyn, because at least she isn't afriad to state her view on something even if it isn't the most popular one in the room, but she will still listen to your view and also give you a fair chance. I've always hated Faux News, but Megyn was the one good thing they had and let go. Too bad for them!

It's wrong cuz Fonda was a GUEST on her show to promote her movie and to bring in ratings for Megyn's show, a mutual relationship, Fonda was simply not prepared for that question. As a host you want your guest to be comfortable, its not an interrogation.
