I always thought Malia Obama had a terrible name because of the “mal” part. I really don’t know Spanish but I took a couple years of it in high school and have lived in TX most my life so I know some basic words and phrases. However I never thought if how “Que mal” translated before you pointed it out. Even if someone didn’t know any Spanish, the “mal” syllable is used in so many negative words that it seems like a bad choice for any part of a name (malcontent, malicious, malevolent, etc). I believe Kamala’s parents are Indian and Jamaican and maybe “mal” doesn’t carry a negative association in their languages.

I always said that Trump was just the right figure to be a shoe-in for an 8 year presidency. He wasn't always a Republican, in fact as a businessman he was a former friend of the Clintons. Political party didn't matter in his business mind. He could have played both sides during his first term and been more popular. But he chose not to do it. It cost him, with his behavior and rhetoric. Hopefully that doesn't rub off again, and the poor state of the country and his assassination attempt may help bring swing voters back

This is anecdotal ... but last night while traveling theough GA, i stopped for the night to stay in a motel. The desk clerk was a black gentleman, and somehow the conversation steered to the election. What he said to me shored up reports that Trump is peeling away black males at least. He offered without any prompting, that 'we need to get the country back on track, and the only one he could see doing that was Trump' His reasoning, was 'that under Trump the economy was good, the border was safw and he's a business man, and thats what we need right now, before its too late' The break for Trump among at least black males isn't anomalous
