Mel and many like him may be gone, but their music will live on for centuries.

Loved to hear of Melvin's stories when he toured with J Paycheck and F Young. I guessing many of these were taken out of the book. My mom saw him perform in Branson. Said he was by far the best entertainer, vocals and comedy.

Also Mel hardly stuttered at all during this interview. Interesting. HE sure was a good man, a Godly man. God bless him.

I think that because he had been in the public eye for many years singing and appeared on several talk shows and toured, perhaps that probably helped with getting his stutter under control.

MEL was a underrated legend really. He really was also a great singer. He wrote the song RUBY, which Kenny Rogers covered. Mel passed in 2017

Didnt Porter Wagoner fire him from his show ?

Yes, he was stealing Porter’s thunder and Porter didn’t like it. He wanted to promote the Porter Wagoner show and you can’t blame him for that.
