I’ve watched tons of your map videos at this point and I just now realized I don’t think I’ve held a physical map in my hands for about 15 years! Since having a smart phone with GPS, I just haven’t needed one in so long. But watching you fold them, flatten them and trace them is so relaxing. I sure don’t get that effect from a GPS!!

Saved for later, but wanted to say how much I enjoy your content. Lovely voice and sounds, and one of the few I subscribe too and watch every new video.

Brings back memories. Visited Munich long ago and Budapest a few times. That drive along the river from Munich to Vienna looks excellent. Rode the train from Innsbruck to Vienna once but I can't remember whether that was along the Danube - I don't think it was. Distinctly remember being in the Budapest Central Station looking at the Bucharesti train moving out and saying I am going to ride that train one day. But that is yet to happen. Really like Budapest. Lively, artistic and cultured. The underground is old but good - easy to get around by linking well with a good tram system. The big old castle, big wide Danube with many islands, the many music and opera events, good rich food and enticing cafes, friendly people. Love it. Like the look of the many parks and waterways in Bucharest. Large boulevards. Also seems to have a good subway and tram system for getting around easily. They call Budapest the Paris of the east but Bucharest looks to be planned out that way even more so. Your videos are always a very relaxing interlude - Thank You. Have a big box overflowing with maps in my storage. You are motivating me to pull it out and reminisce the journeys some more🙂

Thank you so much! Yes, that really fits my impression of Budapest too - really beautiful place! And I'm realizing more and more how little I've travelled in the region over the last years. Maybe I can arrange for a weekend trip with some friends. It's overdue... The Danube mostly runs along the border to Slovakia, so the train tracks run a bit further South. It would make for a beautiful train ride, though! Ahaha that storage box with the maps sounds like a dream for me!

That first map has the best popping, old paper sounds as you open it and flatten it out.

Who knew that some vintage maps and a wooden skewer coukd be so relaxing and tingly? The map that shoes you the distance right at the beginning is my favourite

Honestly, recording these videos is one of my favourite things every week. Simple but effective, even on me 😅

I love maps! As a kid I spent hours looking at maps of unfamiliar places, trying to pronounce the town and street names, and writing down the ones I thought sounded especially nice.

That sounds like something I would have enjoyed too! My friends and I had a game at school where one would try and pick the most obscure place on a map and then everyone else had to try and find it. There's just something fascinating about the way place names change.

This channel is like the intersection of two things I love: ASMR and dry, boring history and geography.

Another great set of travelogues. I have been to Budapest five times: beautiful city, fine people. I've promised myself visits to Vienna and Bucharest sometime. Incidentally, we never see your face. Will we ever, or are you to remain a "woman of mystery"? 😉

Budapest is beautiful! I went a couple of times as a teenager and always had a wonderful time there. For now I'm keeping my aura of mystique haha, but it's not set in stone. I might post a picture some time when I feel like it :)
