Thank you so much for your videos! I stopped going to Pilates classes bc I bought my own reformer and I’ve been having such a hard time finding good workouts from one source. Your channel has been GREAT!!

Killer! But I don’t have a block at home. What can I use alternatively?
@MelanieLopezPilates2 жыл бұрын
Hey Leselle! Unfortunately, there’s not a great substitute for the box, but I would recommend swapping the box series in this video for first three exercises in the linked video below if you don’t have access to a box (it’s an arm-focused video, but the first 3 all challenge the abs in similar positions to the short box series in the core hell video): kzbin.info/www/bejne/qajdpoOYmZ1mfrc Hope that this helps!

I’m a beginner. Just came across this. Looks like a real burner. Can’t wait to get to this level. I’m struggling keeping my legs at table top for an extended period of time. Does it mean my abdominal muscles are weak or my hip extensors are weak or both?
@MelanieLopezPilates2 жыл бұрын
Hey there - great question. If I may ask, what are you experiencing when you’re in tabletop? Are there any specific areas that feel particularly fatigued, tight, or unstable? It may be hard to pinpoint without seeing you move, but if it’s due to needing more core strength or stability, some strategies that I’ve deployed with in-person clients include: 1) trying an imprinted spine (back fully flat against the mat) vs. neutral spine (with a slight curve in the low back), 2) bringing the knees just a little closer toward the body (vs. directly over the hips), 3) gently squeezing a yoga block, small ball, or a pillow between the knees, 4) crossing the ankles, or 5) trying a frog/diamond shape instead (heels together, knees apart in external rotation). You may consider trying some of these out to see if any give you any relief, and progressing back to standard tabletop from there over time if it works. Let me know how it goes, please 👍

Thank you for such detailed response. I have a class tomorrow and I will try some of these modifications. Yes I feel extreme fatigue right in the front where my hip reflectors are and the opposite stretch-lunge- seems to give relief for that feeling.
@MelanieLopezPilates2 жыл бұрын
Happy to help :) And gotcha - tbh, it’s possible that you could be in need of more hip flexor strengthening, more stretching, or a combination of both, but hard to say. Some risk factors for tightness + weakness include lots of sitting during your day, hypermobility/being generally very flexible. Since you’ve got a class tomorrow, I’d recommend giving your instructor a heads-up before class about what you’re noticing and ask them to keep an eye out for what they think might be going on there as you get moving in class. Also would definitely be something you could dig into further in an in-person private session if that’s accessible to you. I hope that that helps somewhat!

Thank you so much. Yes, private sessions are available and I’m considering them.

Glad to see Rebekah back, it was great as always. Do you have any videos for Pilates Chairs? Thinking about getting one.
@MelanieLopezPilates2 жыл бұрын
Hey Jamie! I don’t have any chair videos right now, but I’ll let you know if/when I add some (need to find a place to store it in my NYC apartment, lol)! In the meantime, I scanned a couple of videos, and this one from Function Pilates might be something you’d be interested in: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p4eWfKecep14l8U (I want to do that pike series right now)
