Join me and my friend Rebekah as we take you through a 30 minute Pilates reformer workout. This series is appropriate for beginners and intermediate level Pilates practitioners who have access to a reformer. This series uses a Balanced Body IQ reformer, but I provide heavy/light spring cues for anyone using a non-Balanced Body reformer.

Hi I’m almost 70 , no core strength at all. I do have the reformer which I used to love. Not used for many years. SO now beginning again! Getting my reformer out and feel your beginners video looks very helpful. :) I will keep a record going into 2024.

Not me getting my IQ reformer and thinking finally I can do what I want when I want (as opposed to classes)...well that's all fun sometimes but after a while- I missed the guidance of the class feel. So glad I found some videos, this was my first! Thanks very much, enjoyed it!

Hi Marla - yes! You can do any of the exercises that have a raised head with the head down on the headrest. Either way is 100% fine.

I love this video! I have a new Balanced Body Metro IQ, so it’s nice to see videos that use it. The plank exercise at the end is kind of scary, though. Is it really a beginner exercise? I have hypermobile joints and had a reverse shoulder replacement 2 years ago, and I know it this body it’s probably not a good idea. I’m looking for other beginner videos that will be safer for me.

Hi Peggy! The shoulder pulses are borderline beginner/intermediate, but usually for folks with hypermobility, one may want to strengthen the deep core, back and shoulders through full range of motion before getting too far into variations like this (generally speaking -- this is not medical advice). The workout itself is good, although I don't know if I would consider some in the plank series (e.g., the pike) "beginner". My real problem is the advertisement breaks! There are at least 6, which completely break up and ruin the flow of the workout.

Hey! Fair point, the pikes probably skew toward advanced beginner in my opinion, but a good goal to work toward with repetition of the class and as one builds strength and endurance in plank position. I recommend sticking with what feels right in your body on any given day, and if a variation isn’t feeling right or like the best choice in the moment, please always feel empowered to choose another option - something we covered earlier in the sequence is usually a good choice, or for planks, a good alternative for many is adding all springs to the machine and doing some short bear holds (in quadruped position with the knees hovered for brief intervals). That said, no exercise is right for everyone, so it’s critical to listen to your body, as it sounds like you are. I hope that that’s helpful - thanks for the feedback 🙏

Hi in your membership sign up do you have a beginner's 10 day or 30 day ect programme to follow or just a mix of workouts? I'm looking for a beginner's challenge and really enjoy your videos but want something that's structured to follow as a beginning.

Hi Alysha - thanks for the question! There’s not a beginner’s program in the membership tier at this time, but I’d recommend checking out my 10-day jumpstart program on the main channel as a starting point: kzbin.info/aero/PLvm4xcV7lcJRT8MTaRA2zebCU2su3RDSm - it includes foundational movement and increases in challenge along the way, so I think it would be a good place to begin. I have another 14-day program launching shortly in June 2023 on the main channel, which will extend that work with some added challenge for another 14 days. Thereafter, the membership tier work will probably be a good fit. Let me know if that helps of if you have any other questions, happy to help.
